One of my turtles wasn't having luck getting on and staying dry with my old dock so I knew I needed to start looking again (shell condition issues). This product is awesome! I love how big it is and how well it fit into my 50 gallon aquarium. I did not like the legs. They were ugly with the extra bar towards the base and the legs only held it in place not up. After being frustrated that the suction cups weren't working and the bar was ugly I just took it apart and put the dock and ladder in. My filter has a strong current so it helps keep in in the one end of the aquarium. You can see in the pictures that both of my turtles fit on it together and it does not sink. Reading reviews before I bought this I was worried it may sink with both of them on it, but so far, so good! Now my turtles have extra space to swim and I don't have to look at the legs/bar that originally came with the dock. Have you seen that as an issue?** A: Some do and some don't. I've had several different types and this one is the only one that our red eared slider has not destroyed. When my turtle gets on this platforms it sinks to some degree but not to bad. Just have to make sure all parts are put together really well or they can get the pieces off. The dock has oddly deteriorated. When I first got the dock it had a strange green film that began to flake off in the water but it didn't do anything to my turtle because he didn't eat it (or at least I didn't let him), I scrubbed it off and put it back in the tank and it was fine. As my turtle grew, it became increasingly clear that the dock was no longer well suited He is 5" long, but now he can't comfortably move around the dock.. For one, the dock now sinks when he climbs onto it, so that completely defeats its purpose. Another thing is the ramp. It is the absolute worst. The ramp is supposed to just hang onto the edge of the dock like a hanger does on a rack. Since it does float the ramp gets carried away by the movement of my turtle or the filter current I use a chopstick to get under the edge and reposition it but it gets EXTREMELY annoying. Since the ramp is the only way to get onto the dock, if it falls off and I can't reposition it, well my turtle can't bask. This dock was excellent until my turtle grew, and now I am off to buy a new dock (Turtle Topper by Penn-Plax). ✳✳✳Original Review✳✳✳ I was in desperate need for a basking dock for my 2 year old yellow belly slider, so I looked on amazon for a dock that was not only cheap but functional. I wanted a spacious and secure area and after many hours of browsing for a dock, I stumbled upon this one. I have listed the pros and cons of the TRIANGULAR dock below.
