Happy Turtles - edited 2021
I have looked for years for a good, stable floating dock/log for my two False Mississippi Map turtles. One of my turtles wasn't having luck getting on and staying dry with my old dock so I knew I needed to start looking again (shell condition issues). This product is awesome! I love how big it is and how well it fit into my 50 gallon aquarium. I did not like the legs. They were ugly with the extra bar towards the base and the legs only held it in place not up. After being frustrated that the suction cups weren't working and the bar was ugly I just took it apart and put the dock and ladder in. My filter has a strong current so it helps keep in in the one end of the aquarium. You can see in the pictures that both of my turtles fit on it together and it does not sink. Reading reviews before I bought this I was worried it may sink with both of them on it, but so far, so good! Now my turtles have extra space to swim and I don't have to look at the legs/bar that originally came with the dock. I also like that the dock is a hard plastic because I can just throw it in the dishwasher once and a while to really get it clean! One thing I can't understand in the design is the gully for rocks. This is a floating dock so WHY would you want to add weight to it? This is my biggest complaint about the product. Now it's just empty and a waste of space. The only weight added to this dock should be the turtle(s). This is also why looking at pictures I thought the legs of this dock held up the platform-they could carry the weight of turtle(s) and the rocks. I was wrong- it truly is a floating dock. Works really well for what I needed but a lot of the parts I didn't end up using. Really glad it is SO big and stays afloat. 2021: I ordered a 2nd one because my turtles need to be separated. It is painted very bright colors compared to my first one. Just want to warn ppl that you may get a Christmas dock lol (3rd picture).

lifesaver for large turtle
This works great for our large turtle, had a hard time finding something that would be sturdy, comfortable and not take up all swimming room in tank. This was the answer to his problems, has a nice large flat surface with more than enough room for him to stay dry, it tends to get a little water on the side he climbs up on but there is an area to put weight in on opposite side to counter act the weight on entry side and can sink a little when he’s on it but he is pretty heavy and seems to be easier for him to climb on when it tilts to the entry side. Does take up a lot of tank space (mostly just top water space) there is enough open space underneath that turtle is able to swim under it. He can get on and off this easier than the floating log and seems to enjoy it, spends much time on it. The ramp does come off sometimes but its easy enough to snap back on and he can climb on without ramp. a great purchase price, definately worth it!

Nice size for growing turtle
It's definitely worth the money; but not overly pleased with the suction cups, and the ramp consistently detached from the basking platform. Finally applied aquarium glue on it to hopefully correct the issue. Bought it and used in a 20 gallon tank. It fit (very snuggly), but I decided to downsize to something smaller because it consumed the tank. But it left the floor open for my girl to move about. I've move it up to a 55 gallon now, and it still dominates the tank, but looks nice and is better suited because of my little girls growth spurt.

Perfect for my fire bellied toads tank set-up
I looked around everywhere (it felt like) for a good and sturdy set up for my fire bellied toad tank. I found the foam-floating turtle docks, which felt like they may fall apart. The magnetic turtle docks, which I did accidentally drop one in the pet store and it chipped/broke! (oops) I finally found this gem online - and it is PERFECT! This product is really easy to set up (my 8 year old put it together for me), and provides a sturdy feeding/lounging dock for my fire-bellied toads. I have it in a 20-gallon-long aquarium, which the dimensions are 30" x 12" x 12". You need at least this size of tank for this prodcut. I uploaded a picture so you can see what it looks like. It fits perfectly, with just a tiny bit of room along the 3 sides of this aquarium - it is snug, but doesn't actually rub up or touch against the sides. When in place, it takes up about 60% of the surface of the water, which is exactly what I was looking for, but still provides swimming area for the frogs underneath the dock and on the other side of the tank. I combined this product with a Tetra Decorative Reptile Filter for Aquariums up to 55 Gallons (available on Amazon and way cheaper than what I paid at the local pet store) which is a filter and beautiful waterfall feature, a background cling, a screen top for the 20-gallon-long aquarium, a few dollar-store bags of river rocks for the bottom (you don't want anything that the toads can accidentally injest), a cheap plastic plant, a rather heavy rock/hide on the turtle-pier (along with some of the river rocks) for extra space to hide and decoration (the pier is still completely sturdy under this weight), and a couple of philodendron starts given to me by a co-worker. I think it is a pretty great set-up. This product comes with extenders for the suction-cup columns that keep it in place, so if you have a taller/higher tank, you can make the pier float higher. They are included in the package. Mine is shown with the shorter columns - and they come up right to the screen-top I have on the aquarium. The screen touches them, but they are not pushing up the screen as to allow the frogs to escape.

Big Pier Meant for Smaller Turtles
This platform is a great size and I love how nice it looks as well. However, it isn't built well to support turtles that are heavy. One of my turtles has a very difficult time getting onto the platform because the ramp is very unsecure and flimsy. It simply can't hold anything and floats away when my turtles try and get on it. On the other hand, the pier rocks a lot and can't stay level unless you put more supports underneath it. Let that be a rock, or some styrofoam to keep that steady. And the "gravel bin" doesn't do anything to keep the pier level, instead it holds extra water. Although, there are some problems with this pier, for my smaller turtle it's perfect. All of these problems aren't there because my turtle doesn't weigh a lot. I would like to mention that this pier is a good buy, but make sure to make some adjustments if you have more than one turtle, or a turtle that is heavier.

Must have for turtles
LOVE this. Looks really nice in my 40 gallon tank. The height is adjustable for any water level necessary, growing with your turtle. The ramp is perfect, it’s textured for help with grip but doesn’t have holes that long nails can get caught in. Platform is large and has plenty of room for basking, turning, a plant or two etc. there’s a place to put rocks/weights as your turtle grows so it stays steady when your turtle climbs on. Great, thoughtful feature. Bottom line, well worth the money and looks great. Functionality 10/10

MUST BUY
Amzing! I literally read all the reviews before I bought this. Knowing I have a 30 gallon tank and the platform is big. I still bought it and I love it, yes it is big but my turtles still have plenty of room. very durable floats well, easy to assemble, suction works great, my turtles love it and look like they are comfortable up there, it functions the way its suppose to and does not sink. Definatly worth my money.

Don't expect much & be ready to return it
REVIEWED: Penn-Plax Reptology Floating Turtle Pier and Basking Platform – Large Size (Model Number: REP603). WTF did they not mention there are no floatation materials on this device, no foam or closed off air tubes? It (hopefully) sits on top of the water because the areas underneath (hopefully) trapped some air. But as turtle mounts it tips the air out of the channels undeneath, and pretty soon the platform is awash. Problem: the top surface stays wet because it does not really float on top of the water. I wanted a basking platform, not afe bathing platform! A place where the turtle could bask under his UV lamp and stay dry for awhile, it's not good for him to be soaking wet all the time. Also, the four posts look like they screw, to make the top have a screw-adjustable height, but they do not work like that. Heck, the ends of the extension posts that should fit into the socket of the post below are too thick, so they do not fit together. I suppose I could shave or sand them down to fit, but that is stupid extra work. Also, the ramp is not sturdy, and does not attach well to the platform. It wiggles so much it scared the turtle away. I am very sorry I let the return time slip away, because this is like throwing money away. It it ever becomes useful it will be because I built something else and use parts of this in the construction, otherwise, off it goes into the garage sale. Very disappointed in myself for not returning this right away. Also, I have the large size floating basking platform from another manufacturer that worked OK until Turtle grew too big. I'll get some floating foam insulation sheeting and make that one bigger, and get rid of this POS.

Mejor de lo que esperaba
Buen tamaño, se adapta a la profundidad por si mismo aunque esta cambie. A las tortuguitas les encanta. Robusto y bien echo

Works Fantastic in our turtle tank
I have purchased different platforms for our turtle but they ended up not working well (the magnet ones) - I have had this for quite sometime now and it is perfect for our turtle. He feels very secure basking on it and it is very sturdy and goes up and down with the water level - can highly recommend
