My cat is 8 years old and 17 pounds. He is an indoor only cat and only goes outside on a harness, or on a harness inside of a pet stroller. I have been wanting to try this cute backpack! After a week of using it with him in the house, I brought him outside. So far so good. It is sturdy and seems to keep its shape well. He is too tall to use the bubble easily, he has to bend down to look out of it. But the bubble is cute. I didn’t have a problem with it coming off. After reading reviews, I watched YouTube videos on how to properly and safely attach it. This is going to be another fun way to bring my boy outside!The harness he has is the same brand as the backpack, The Travel Cat, in size medium.

Initial review:Sturdy carrier with a lot of add-ons (bubble, flat vent, backpack or standard carrier options). Easy to clean material. Plenty of room for our 7.5 lb cat. Has options to roll back top screen and secure with hook. Has a safety hook inside to secure harness to.We're moving across the country so with anticipated flights and hikes we got this. We're currently still in the transition period after using her last carrier for 3 years so I'll update once we complete that process. We did extensive research before buying and this company has a lot of enthusiasm in doing what they do.

I bought this bag 4 months ago and loved it, afterall it's Jackson Galaxy's backpack, I love the guy he's the cat guru. I trusted this bag to keep my cat safe on our weekly walks and adventures. But please please be careful with the bubble window. Yesterday I was getting out of an uber and the bubble hit the car door slightly as I was getting out, and bam! Completely fell out. My cat was not tethered because I trusted the construction of the bag to keep him safe and he was scared and jumped out and ran. You can imagine my immediate breakdown as I now had a scared cat running in the middle of NYC. I called all my family members to help search for him and luckily he's back home with me. But please, I cannot stress enough to be wary of the bubble part of this bag!! It is not safe at all!

Edit: I reached out to the company through Instagram @yourcatbackpack about the broken attachment strap, and after I sent them my order number they were very kind to send me a replacement. I will be waiting for that to arrive and hoping it doesn’t break again, I will probably use the dome on for a while until I am sure that this second one won’t break because I definitely do not want to take the risk. I will update this review when I receive the replacement and let you guys know if that one breaks too.Original: I just received the backpack a couple days ago brand new everything look great. We went on a walk no problems. But on our second walk, my cat got spooked by a car exhaust sound and managed to get out of the backpack even though I had him strapped to the inside with the harness and backpack bungee cord strap. I was walking him with the bubble off so he could pop his head out (as he had done in other backpacks) and this is the first time that a strap breaks. Luckily I was already opening my house door when it happened and he jumped out of the bag and into the house but imagine if it had happened in the street! Would have lost my cat :( for the price of the bag I am super disappointed because like I said previous cheaper backpacks have held out better.

I like so much about this cat backpack, this is my first ever purchase of a cat backpack although I know quality and this is very much a quality product. The material used is strong, there’s a lot of space inside for your fur baby, I believe that they state that there’s enough room for two cats but I do not believe this to be true. Maybe if you have two small sized full grown cats it would work out but anything larger I would say it would be quite crowded in there. The straps are so comfortable. I have yet to feel them digging at all. The color is nice a neutral so that it works for all genders and looks good. I personally have used the bubble insert ever since I’ve received the bag just because I think my cat likes it the most but I love that it is interchangeable, I think the other insert would be appropriate for traveling on planes where the bubble would be protruding and possibly knocking into things along the way. There is one issue I’ve had with this backpack that hasn’t fixed its self as I thought and hoped it would over time & that is the structure of my bag was never able to pop out all of the way from the way it was when I got it from shipment, it was shipped flattened to me and when I popped it open to let it air out from storage the portion that is up against my back when I wear the backpack has never been able to fully come out from that flattened state. It is a little annoying since it does tend to protrude into the space for my kitty, so it makes it less spacious for her while on our adventures. Overall, I absolutely recommend this bag from this company, I have enjoyed multiple products of theirs as well as their virtual conferences they have regularly throughout the year.

The window module doesn't have proper threading and was impossible to screw in. It windbreak tighten to a point and then pop back out again and was always possible to knock out so be aware if bring for a cat that might escape.
