Spacious and Easy to Keep Clean
I’ve been really happy with this compost bin. The larger size is exactly what I was looking for because it holds plenty of food scraps so I don’t have to empty it nearly as often as my old, smaller bin. That makes a big difference in keeping the kitchen clean, especially when cooking a lot.Cleaning is quick and easy which I appreciate. The smooth interior wipes down without much effort, and that helps keep everything smelling fresh and looking tidy. Overall, it’s a well-designed bin that fits right into my kitchen without being an eyesore. I had guests over recently and they loved this bin so much they ordered one for their own kitchen while they were still at my house! Definitely recommend.

Compact Bin That Handles More Than Compost
I picked this up as a kitchen compost bin, but it’s turned into my go-to bucket for DIY projects, as I toss masking tape, paint scraps, old caulk, and other small waste in here, and it handles it without issue. The smooth interior wipes clean easily, the lid flips open and stays put, and the handle makes emptying simple. At 0.75 gallons, the size is ideal—it keeps clutter contained without taking over the counter or workspace. It’s sturdy, doesn’t trap odors, and looks clean enough to leave out in the open.Minimal design, versatile use, and dependable build. Exactly the kind of tool you expect from Oxo!— Curated by Jaded John | #OrderlyCleanDesign

PERFECT - YOU REALLY NEED ONE OF THESE
Living in NYC, our building now has very strict composting protocols and our building (yes, building, not only the city) is imposing fines on people incorrectly disposing of garbage. So despite living in an apartment, we have had to adapt to storing biodegradable waste. Despite frustration and fury at the prospect, I bought the larger of these two containers and can't say enough good things about it. I love the size, the lid, the capacity, the material it's made of, the handle - the list goes on. It's perfect for city living. It's easily washable, no odors in the kitchen. There isn't a single thing I don't like about this product. As much as I dreaded adapting to it, segregating bio/wet waste has become a breeze. Thank you to the previous posters who recommended buying the larger of the two sizes because in terms of counter space it's not much difference and the larger size is just right.

Nice compost bin - can't seem to solve the fruit fly issue though
This is a great compost bin and I had used it to replace my free one from the city which had venting holes (and smells). So this was superior in that regard. The bags were a better fit in the smaller size of the OXO products and this provided great control over smells however somehow we were finding fruit flies inside the bin that were waiting to fly out when we opened it. This was confusing, because we had not changed our practices around washing fruits / vegetables etc, only change was using this instead of tying scraps inside a produce bag. So we ended up returning the OXO bin and considering going back to previous way to avoid fruit fly issue which was quite sad because I liked the bin and really hoped / wanted it to work.

So convenient and works great!
This compost container is well-constructed and has adequate capacity for holding a significant quantity of kitchen waste for several days with daily use. As a frequent user of fresh produce, I find this container to be ideal for incorporating compostable items into my kitchen routine. Its slim design, ease of cleaning, and convenient handle make it particularly suitable for storage under the sink and transport to the compost pile or spinner. Notably, there is no discernible odor emanating from the container unless opened, which is as anticipated. I appreciate the flexibility of using it with or without compostable bags, as I have found that such bags tend to be too delicate and prone to tearing when full.

Exactly what we needed
Our village recently added composting to our garbage pickup to keep compostable materials out of the landfill. While they provided a large bin that we keep outside, we needed something small to keep in the kitchen to hold compostable material temporarily. This has worked out perfectly for us. It's large enough that it can hold over a days worth and easily fits on our kitchen counter. The lid easily stays open while scooping in scraps and closes with just a tap, and sturdy handle makes it easy to carry to the big bin, and it's easy to clean. While this will work well with compostable bags, we've been using it bagless. So far we haven't had any issues with odor or bugs, but we tend to empty it out and rinse it out at least every other day, so nothing really stays long enough to cause a problem. This has helped us make a smooth transition to separating our compostable material instead of using the garbage disposal or putting it in our normal trash.

No smell, no fruit flies, easy to clean
For years I've used filtered compost pails that did a poor job. They always had fruit flies, egg pods, and maggots. The filters were hard to clean and even harder to put back in the lid. This pail solves all those problems. There are no filters, no flies and no smell. The interior is easy to clean. I've been using it without a liner for a year and it looks brand new. The lid seals well, but is still easy to flip open and closed. Excellent product.

Perfect for small spaces!
Our building just began composting as of April 1st here in NYC. We don’t have a lot of kitchen space but this is the most PERFECT little compost bin for our situation. It actually holds a good amount for us and it’s so easy to use and convenient to take out to the compost bin in front of our building. The best part it looks great, it keeps all the smells inside the bin and it’s super easy to clean. So glad we chose this indoor compost bin!!!
