Krylon K06901107 Rust Protector and Preventative Enamels Gloss, Forest Green

We bought a house with baseboard heat. The baseboards in the half bath and laundry room (opposite sides of the same wall) were rusted on the front covers. We were renovating the rooms and didn't want to replace the baseboards so a little online searching told me this product would not only cover up the rust we have and be paintable, but it would stop future rust from forming. It wasn't available locally in white so we ordered it online. It took awhile to arrive but I didn't need it immediately.We used a wire brush to get off as much rust as we could, wiped it down and then sprayed several coats of this. It looks great. I love that it is white b/c the baseboards are white and we wouldn't need as much paint to cover us a black or red primer. We could add another color of paint to this but they look nice enough and are in a small enough area that we aren't planning on going over it with additional paint. In the future, we may decide to do that just to get a glossier look, but for now, we're very happy with it.

This paint worked great for me. I needed to camoflauge some areas of molding where repairs had been made and it looked dirty or messy. This did a good job and matched our paint well. I liked that I could kind of spray less toward the outer edges of the repair and make it blend with the other paint.I made sure the surfaces of the moldings were clean but didn't prepare them in any other way. The paint looks like it's going to last well and it really looks good.One can went a long ways and I have plenty left for future use.

Great paint at a fantastic price. A piece of advice though, the white plastic insert is not supposed to be thrown away, it controls the spray. I thought it was some sort of stopper, but without it the spraying is a mess! I just waited until I emptied the second can and used the piece from it, so at least I didn't waste a can of paint.

What is there to say about paint? It either does the job or not right?I bought this for the metal flake look to pain some mudflaps on my car due to the fact that my car paint is similar. That said this paint is a tab bit opaque so it takes a few layers to cover other colors or the color of your primer. Ont the other hand if you want to see a little of the underlying color this would be an excellent choice. I have used the can for a number of different projects now and have had no trouble with the nozzle. The metal in the "Metallic" description is quite fine for obvious reasons but you can see it on the finished product.Bottom Line :) I like it and would recommend it.

I love this primer - in the right application.It goes on clear and apparently reacts with the iron oxide to turn black. If there's no rust to convert it just stays clear, so don't be disappointed if it's not all black. (If black converting primer is what you want, there are other products for that.)I have the best results when I knock off the heavy rust scale with a wire brush or sandpaper and wiping off the dust. I've gone through the trouble of taking steel down to shiny metal and spraying this primer, but it doesn't turn black, so it's a bit tricky to see if the part is fully covered or not. Save yourself the trouble of all that prep; just knock off the loose rust, spray this on, and watch the magic happen. Science.

Used this product on the interior of an old file cabinet that had rusted. Appears that when rust turns dark, it is sealed. I gave the "crunchier" areas a quick wire brushing. Found that areas with the most rust needed one coat, while very lightly rusted areas needed 2 or 3. Tested by rubbing with my fingers and checking for rust. Did exactly what I needed it to do. It wasn't quite the right color for the set of outdoor metal furniture I wanted to cover but no returns, so I decided to use it just on the undersides and save the right color for the tops. Not only was it difficult to spray, but I was barely able to touch up just the undersides of only 2 chair seats when the paint ran out. Probably no more than 2 square feet coverage, and not eve FULL coverage either. Moreover what did come out was thin and runny and bubbled up in places. Be assured that I followed the directions, shook the can properly and held it upright. Thank goodness I wasn't using it on a visible area. Maybe I got a defective can but unfortunately no returns. Pretty expensive for something that didn't work. I'm going back to my old standby, Rustoleum. That hasn't let me down so far.

I bought this to update some ceiling lighting in my house. I was tired of the gold color and this has made them look so good! Cheap and easy update versus replacing the fixtures.
