As a disclaimer, I have not shot my Glock 17 with this on yet, so my rating and review excludes that experience. If it causes me any trouble down the road, then I will be sure to update this review. First of all, I previously had an Insight M3X light on my Glock 17 Gen 3, and they retail for $195. I'm a Marine and I am very particular about my gear, and quality is important to me. The light was solid in every aspect, but it was the old model bulbs and it had a terrible reflector with blind spots so I sold it. This light may not be quite a tough, but for $38 you can't beat it. The light bulb and reflector are flawless. It is extremely bright and no blind spots. The switch is a bit further away from my trigger finger than it was on the Insight, but not enough that I have to change my grip or use my weak hand. My trigger finger still reaches the on switch from my natural grip. The off switch is simply toggling it back towards the left side of the gun, so you'll need your weak hand for that, but turning it off is not the critical part of operation, turning it on it. It fits like a glove on my Glock 17 Gen 3, and it it installs and removes easily with no sticking or prying. When the light is on the rail, it does not budge even a hair. It fits perfect, just like my $200 light. You can't beat it for the money, especially considering that I could buy 5 of these for the price of one Insight. I'm not a cheap budget guy, but for home defense, this works. If your goal is to depend on this with your life in harsh environments, weather, and combat elements, then it might not be the right light (though I can't say for sure) but for most practical and tactical uses... it's $38 well spent.

This is an excellent value for the money. The latest version delivered to me is 400 lumens. Bought this light for my Glock 22 Gen 4 .40 cal duty weapon. This fits the weapon perfectly and was obviously designed for the Glock universal rail with the single rail slot. I am currently using a Safariland 6365-832 STX low ride light bearing duty holster which is designed for Glock 17/22 and the light fits this daily tool combo perfectly. I have put about 500 rounds downrange and the rig continues to work perfectly. Has not fallen off the weapon as experienced by one reviewer. I can only speak to the G22/holster/HiLight combo but it works very well securely in that configuration. Couple of comments: The transverse right to left on switch is very intuitive and works well when aiming downrange. You have your trigger finger out of trigger guard and on switch--aim downrange-light on obtain sight picture then finger on trigger. As several reviewers note it is possible if you lay the weapon on a hard surface on its right side (viewed as held) that the switch may be activated. Solution, when not holstered and stored-lay the weapon on its left side. This is actually the best way to store an unholstered weapon for a right-handed shooter. I tried to wiggle the weapon in holster to get the light to come on in the holster--but could not get it to activate accidentally. Since this light operates on a single CR123 battery (compared to Streamlight using 2 batteries) the overall battery life is probably going to be around 1 hour. If you use the tac light the way it was intended doing room/building clearing in short bursts room by room rather than continuously on making yourself a target this is more than adequate (in my opinion--you mileage may vary). Instructions are clear for strobe operation: turn on-then off- then back on quickly for strobe. This is fairly standard in industry with my Streamlight stinger and Surefire with single switch operation. The 400 lumens is more than adequate for room clearing. Brighter than my old IM3. Not quite as bright as the Streamlight Stinger 600 lumens. But again this is a fraction of the cost. Overall excellent for the price.

This light is small and light weight. It is built like a little tank and appears to be all metal. It really is bright, really bright. It may indeed be 300 lumens, not an over-rated estimate. It snaps on the rail securely and is removed quickly with very little effort. All in all it is worth $35 dollars. On my Diamondback FS9 the light will not lock in the closest set of rail locks in relation to the trigger guard. It needs to come back about an eighth of an inch to fully engage the locks. On my gun there is no where to go. I can't remove enough material from the light or the gun to get it to lock. So I have it in the next lock forward which puts the light just out of reach of my grip. Not the fault of the lock. The switch is a slide switch. There is no momentary switch. Off is fully pressed from left to right. You use your trigger finger (if you are right handed) to turn it on or by shifting your grip and using your weak hand to press the switch from right to left from underneath the gun. Neither of which seem to real good solutions. Press the switch a second time right to left within about 4 seconds and the light becomes a strobe. Pressing it a third time right to left and the light turns off. It's a good, bright, well built pistol light. It uses the widely available CR123A battery. It is small and light. Ergonomics of the switch need some tweaking. I'll have to get in the workshop and whip up a switch paddle extension.

stop reading and go buy it. while you are buying it here is my judgement. (this is however only a out of the box review, i have no trigger time with it on) !!!QUICK IMPORTANT NOTE!!! this will not fit on compact rail lenghts. for example this just barely fits on my M&P 9 4.25" barrel, attaching on the last rail notch. why are you defending your house with a compact gun anyways?! first things first. f#@$ing fast delivery. TWO whole days prior to the expected ship date (amazon still thinks its in transit lol). came in standard bubble wrap package. the box container was of high quality with all parts (the light and battery separate) foam incased, not what i was expecting for the price. Pros and stuff The light itself is of high quality (consider the price point and its of outstanding quality). at first i thought it wast made of molded plastic (as some parts are) but several hours later realized it was cold to the touch so my guess is it is a very high quality treated aluminum. the weight would make a feather jealous.the attatching arm is made of cheap plastic, but with the design i highly doubt it will ever break off, at least not with force that wouldn't break the light itself. Yes it is quick release and no the spring is not too tight. its perfect. and easy to take on and off. the brightness... is BRIGHT holy carp!! the title says 300 lumens but the box says the bulb can reach 400 lumens. this makes the brights on your car look like candle light. i flashed it down my street and every reflector flashed supper bright out to 300m (guesstimated distance) this will easily blind any aggressor (night OR DAY)and the strobe is very disorienting for the person being flashed and is still very east to aim and focus your firearm. i cant put into words how kick ass this light is! and for the price pffff... you should probably go put in your address or what ever is next in the buying process. Cons yes there are some complaints (serious time). the first most notable complaint is that it protrudes past the bore of the gun. will this be a problem? probably after a few thousand rounds or so. but for that sweet price you can just buy another if it does break (seriously how many of you really put thousands of rounds thru your guns, and with the prices of ammo? please if you were one of those guys you wouldn't be reading this) another complaint is with that excellent light, the battery will probably not last very long. just physics. or "guess-ysics" or magic idk just buy it... and get some extra batteries. while the case is probably not made of dragon scales or daedric metals, it seams it will hold up to most smacks and whacks but the plastic switch and attachment bar are definitely its weak points (but again the price!) however please note this will probably not end up lasting long enough to be a family heirloom, it will, some day withing your time of use, break. unless you are on your death bed... in which case go ahead. its length is definitely a downside,but that strong ass light is probably the reason. My largest complaint is with the activation switch. yes you can (assuming you are right handed like us normal socially acceptable people and not you backwards monsters) reach it with your trigger finger without changing grip but you cannot turn it off without changing your grip. you have to turn it on then off then on again to activate the strobe, which ruins the point. and if you lay your pistol down on the right side it will activate the light. all in all it will be a great light for you. aren't you glad you bought it?!

I read a lot reviews prior to making this purchase. Many mentioned some difficulty attaching the light and others had issues with the switch inadvertently turning on. Since the price was so low I thought I'd take a chance. My intended purpose for the light was to attach it to my Springfield XD9 that is primarily used at the range and for home defense. That being the case, I do not have the need to constantly install/remove the light, which was a little difficult. As far as the light switch inadvertently turning on, that only happened once and was my fault. Again, as a rule, I do not carry this firearm in a holster with the light attached. The one time I did was in my house and the light did turn on. The light was on about 10 minutes and I felt some warmth were the gun was. When I removed the firearm from the holster, the light was so hot that it took awhile before I could hold my hand on the light. The light does not come on for me when I lay my gun down as some have said. I'm right-handed and the switch is on the right side of the gun. I lay my gun down on its left side. Another complaint others had was the sequence needed to go from "always on" to strobe (off-on-off-strobe). In my eyes, this is a true shortcoming, but I knew it before I bought it. I cannot fault the light. Note: I found that I cannot stage the light by going thru the off-on-off sequence expecting that if needed in the middle of the night, I'll have it in strobe mode immediately. At.some point it "resets" and will turn on to a solid beam. I don't know how long before this occurs. Where this light "shines" (sorry) is in its solid metal construction, brightness, and price. I was pleasantly surprised when I pulled the light from the box and felt its heft and how well it seems to be built. Of course, only many sessions at the range will tell how it will stand up. As for the brightness - well, just don't look directly at the light when you are first testing it. Trust the reviews on this one; it's very bright! If you want a light that is inexpensive, bright, and seemingly well built, give this one a try but beware of the pros and cons with it. Buy it for what it is and accept it for what it does.

This is my second purchase of this item, first was about 6 months ago. Lets be clear, I purchased a second one because I was happy with my first purchase which I still use currently. Its the one mounted on my G17 in my photo It has its design flaws like you cant set your weapon on its right side because the light switch will turn on, if the switch was just a little bit shorter they could fix that easily but that's not the reason for this review... Today my HiLight weapon light arrived, it looked to be in good shape, and decent quality. There has been some design changes since my last purchase, switch seems better, and lettering has changed on the sides of the light, other than that seems very similar design to the previous model. Perhaps a new manufacturer? I followed the instructions and installed the battery to test the light. Turned it on, nothing. Light didn't work, I tested it with another CR123A Battery from an older model HILIGHT I purchased several months ago, still nothing... I set the light down on my desk for a few minutes while I processed my amazon return for replacement and after literally 2-3 minutes my wrist touched the light while I was typing and it burned the crap out of me! Now I've got a burn on my wrist and still no working light! Considering processing refund instead of replacement because I thought this was a decent light from my last purchase which I still use on my nightstand firearm but now I'm worried about the quality and that the thing will blow up in my face if I actually try to use it! BUYER BEWARE THIS THING IS DANGEROUS!

Bottom line, I wouldn't buy it again, or recommend it to a friend, but for the price, I'm ok with it and I won't return it. PROS: the price (that's the only reason it gets three stars). Fits securely to my XD9 compact rail, no wiggling and slides on and off easily. Also fit nicely on my AR15 rail, which may be good for a dimly lit indoor range, or close up drills in low light. Very bright light. The body is made of metal and seems solid. CONS: will not fit my MP Compact 9mm, I expect will not fit most pistols less than 4 inches. On/Off switch, stupid design. The switch appears cheaply made compared to the rest of the body, and wiggles around, I expect it to fall off at any moment. I'm left handed so when I lay the gun down it activates the light. If this was a sliding on/off switch it wouldn't matter and would probably warrant 4 or 5 stars. Strobe light, frankly I don't see the point and would rather it wasn't there. If I'm pointing a gun at a bad guy in a dark room I'm going to shoot him, not worry about disorienting him with a seizure inducing strobe. The light is bright enough to ruin someone's vision more effectively than the strobe anyway. All that said, it meets the need I purchased it for. I wanted a light attached to my gun for around my house at night. I trust it to do the job in this regard. Do not put it on your AR15 and abuse it and expect it not to fall apart, I expect even a surefire will break under those conditions. I fully expect this light to break if I drop it while attached to my pistol. If you want a true tactical light (LE/Military purposes) save up and pay more for something better. If not, this light might be what you are looking for.

I've had this product for about a week now. I keep it on my Glock 19 (Gen 3) for home defense. So far, I've taken it shooting once and put about 30 rounds through the pistol with the light attached. Overall and for the price, I'm very happy with the product and highly recommend it. Here are my key talking points: -Fit on the Gun: -- In general, the fit is great. The unit easily slides onto the gun. Once on, it stays firmly attached and the notch goes right into the space (sorry if my terminology is wrong). The spring is very strong. Then, the unit is easy to take off when you want. Also, you can screw light head on and off while the unit is attach to you gun, making it easy to work with the battery. -- For the Gen 3 Glock 19 in specific, I'm less than happy. There is about a 1/2 inch gap between the back of the unit and the front of my trigger guard. As a consequence, my index finger cannot reach the activation toggle. So, I use the thumb of my non-dominant hand to activate the unit. Although this is a negative for me, its just how the unit fits on my specific pistol. I don't hold it against the manufacturer. It is impractical to make a unit that fits every gun perfectly. Just be aware of it. The Light: Fantastic! The light is extremely bright, both in steady and strobe modes. In my small apartment, the light is crazy bright at 10-20 feet distances. Outside, it illuminated a wood fence at 75+ yards. It probably shines brighter than the average shooter can accurately shoot a pistol. For long range rifle shooting, you might need something stronger. As for the strobe, it strobes at a high frequency and could probably disorientate a bad guy. Activation: The activation toggle is pretty basic, but it does the job. Press right to left to activate the steady light. Press back to the right to turn it off. Quickly press back to the left to activate the strobe. One customer noted that the strobe should activate before the steady light. I'm fine with the way it is. Just beware. Active Shooting: Great! With the unit attached, I fired about 30 rounds with the light off, on steady, and on strobe. While shooting, the unit stayed firmly attached to the pistol; it didn't move at all. The firing didn't in anyway affect the light's beam. After firing, the unit was perfectly clean; almost no residue to mention. In this respect, the unit performed flawlessly. I hope this review helps.
