North American Salt 56720 Sure Paws Ice Melter, 20-Pound

Quite a patented formulation and design. No staining, no damage to plants, negligible clumps. Spreads in my electric spreader. Formulation even remained lightly in my concretes after deicing and essentially auto-pretreated for the next flurry, weeks or months later. I tried to save money by making a homebrew mix of generic-branded local MgCl2 and CaCl (3:1 mix). Still significantly inferior in deicing for the price, with 2-3 times the volume I'd need with yours. Pricey now with the recent blizzards across the US...wacked natures, wacked times. But looking to stock up more. In the midwest.

love this stuff works quickly doesn't leave a mess.

You may find less expensive products, and these melt ice on c o l d winter nights and we don't mind our dog walking over it. Good stuff.

This stuff definitely melted the ice and my German Shepherd didn't complain, so that was appreciated. However, what's left behind is somewhat of a gooey/greasy mess that gets tracked around. I'm having to use soap and water on my front porch to get it off.

Very pleased! Works great at a good price . Love that is doggie safe . Urgently needed as all stores were out of stock . Shipping was expedited as requested! Saved the day . :)

Don't expect this product to work instantly. After spreading it around the path to my door, all the snow was melted in a few hours.

Bought this because we wanted something safe for our itty bitty dogs and for the environment. Tip: KEEP IT IN A TIGHTLY CLOSED CONTAINER. a lot of folks who rated this poorly just left it around like traditional salt... which it is not. I had some left at the end of the season last year (I live in Cleveland and even here we only needed one bag! Very effective) I kept the bag sealed in my kitchen entryway. Moisture is pretty high in kitchens. The salt stayed free flowing all summer and my husband just shook some out today. Works really well and did not hurt our pups' feet nor damage our cement. No problems!

Got to use this product today since we got 5” of snow in Reno. I decided to shovel as much as I could and then throw this product in my spreader and hit my driveway and walkway to make sure ice doesn’t form overnight. Long story short…even with the spreader dialed up to 5, as wide as it goes, I couldn’t use this stuff. The product has big flat pieces throughout that kept plugging up the orifice of my spreader. Yes, I wrote orifice and yes, I was laughing while I did it. Too funny. I finally had to cut up an old plastic gallon container and use it to spread the product out where I needed it. Unfortunately, I ended up using way more than necessary, but it worked so I gave it 3 stars.
