I received this item today 12.13.2023 and tested it out. I was a little concerned when I saw some of the negative reviews but am rather pleased. I have a fingerprinting scheduled for tomorrow so we'll see the ultimate results. So far though, my thoughts. Yes, it is small. But this is more than large enough to roll a digit on. When it comes to the 4 full print on the lower portion of the cards, I don't see this being an issue. It may take a little longer due to having to do each digit separately and a little more finesse to make sure I get what I need. The ink itself, not super dark but ridge lines seem clear and crisp. I did try to intentionally press hard as some clients do when they 'help me'. It was more difficult to smudge which is a good thing. It is also far easier to clean up after as well. With my previous pad, a client would need to use 3 wipes, this will only require one....much more efficient. The previous pad also created major issues with smudging and reprints due to how dark and uneven it would go on a clients digit even with attempts to control how much ink was on the digit. It was also very messy and would cause some pretty serious concern if a client had a white countertop. My initial thoughts are that this will actually make things significantly easier to work with on the client side. I see this looking like it will minimize reprints, which is also a good thing. If tomorrow goes well I think I'll be getting more of these for backups. I also see this as being far easier when going into a clients home with all my things. Being a notary public as well, I carry a bag for all my journals, pens, etc. I do have a small container which holds my fingerprinting gear. This pad will make things far easier than having to carry in my entire board which holds my ink pad and card holder. This makes it feel far more professional from a clients point of view. I don't like it when a client feels it necessary to ask if I want help carrying anything. I'm certain I can fit everything needed within my notary carry bag without issue. One thing I would have liked to have seen though is some sort of removable plastic sheeting for the pad itself to help minimize drying out faster. The seal of the container itself seems decent so hopefully that won't be to much of an issue. I know I can make something in the mean time as a precaution. 12.14.2023 went to my fingerprinting appointment and wasn't totally disappointed. One thing I would like to point out though, this can cause smudging and 'darkness' if pressed down on to hard. Of course a client will find a way to make it not always work right. When done right, the darkness is just dark enough to make the ridge lines pop well. The clean up was much better, which I already expected. Bottom line, I'll be ordering more of these.

I was attempting DIY fingerprints with a stamp pad. Huge mistake. It was beyond frustrating. Finally, I went to the Internet and the collective wisdom of the Internet didn’t disappoint. I learned that fingerprinting is a science unto its own and that DIY fingerprinting isn’t easy. But what can make it easy is this product. I received it in two days, and within minutes of receiving it, I had managed to obtain crisp and clear fingerprints. This little pad saved me a lot of frustration. The ink is just right, it can still smudge if you roll your finger in it. But if you simply touch lightly to the pad and then touch the paper/cardstock, you will get crisp and clean prints. Some practice may be needed on a spare paper. But it won’t take long. And this is infinitely better than a regular stamp pad.

I've worked in an industry my entire adult life (20 years) that requires fingerprinting. I've had it done so many times - at least a dozen - that now that I work from home, I felt that I could do it myself and not pay 10, 15 or even 20 dollars to a private company or even a police station to do it for me. So with that in mind... Fingerprint ink is NOT a true "black" - it is a dark grayish color as some reviews have noted, so to that point, this ink pad produces the correct and acceptable color. The simple reason for this is that in order to achieve a readable print, you can't apply too much ink to your finger. I've never in my life been printed an not had to wash my fingertips - whoever wrote that they didn't is making an absurd claim. Others stating that it washes off easily are providing an accurate take. A small amount of hand or dish soap, a paper towel and a quick rub and you're clean. Compared to 10 or 20 years ago, that's great. It is rather small (they could do a better job highlighting the size/dimensions - thus 4 stars), so pay attention to that, but I'm over 6 feet tall, and could ink 2 fingers at a time in order to print all 4 fingers at once without much trouble. I wouldn't be able to do that with a round thumb pad - so it can accomplish any fingerprint task short of a palm print. And lastly you can't beat the price and I received it overnight on my free Prime 2-day shipping.

So... my co-worker and I were both applying for out of state pharmacy licenses to help out remotely when we had spare time at our location. For this, we had to give fingerprints. The closest place to have them done professionally for this state's BoP would have been several hours' drive. But... we could do them ourselves. This pad made it easy, and fairly clean for two amateurs to fingerprinting.

It's a wonderful product. It really is inkless and easy to clean up! It's also nice and compact. But the ink ran out really quickly. I practiced taking my fingerprints on a couple of sheets of paper then I did it on the official paper. And each time I had to press harder and roll my finger more to get clearer picture! The ink was not getting picked up because it was running out and the fingerprints looked faded out.

Every notary should have one.
