VOX Electric-Guitar-Amplifier-Combos (AC4HW1)

Good little hand-wired low watt amp from Vox. I live in a townhouse and needed a lower wattage amp to play and not bother the neighbors. Comes with foot switch and amp cover which is a big plus. I really want to like this amp but I’m still not sure how I feel about it. I’ve had it for 3 months and have played it a lot. My original intention was to use it as an amp for my Gretsch to play The Beatles. Not exactly perfect for Beatles but it’s workable.Cranked up it gives u that good tube driven crunch at low volume. It is in my opinion too bright though. Adjusting the treble and bass I could not get the exact tone I am looking for in a tube amp.I’ve had an AC 15 and an AC 10 and this amp, although has that much desired hand wired tube tone everyone wants, for me it’s not quite what I was hoping for.That being said many players will find this amp more then suitable for their needs. I would still buy it again for value and it fits the need for an amp that is bright enough to cut through the mix.

I have owned many VOX amps from 1987 through to the present. I have also played some vintage 60s models tool.This is a fantastic sounding amplifier. I retrofitted a Celestion Blue alnico so that I could duplicate the early Beatles tones. It really has the AC30 top boost sound, in a compact package. It is the biggest (physical) and richest sounding 4 watt amp I have ever played and owned. It has a sweet, jangly, transparent and compressed vintage tone. It really brings out the best characteristics of your guitar. Tubes are an important part of the amp's tone; I use JJECC803S preamp tubes and JJ EL84 power tube. I used to own an AC15HW1 and retrofitted a Celestion Blue alnico. It is an equally great amp; just too big and loud for my needs, but it would be perfect for someone who occasionally has jam sessions and/or gigs.If you are seeking an amp with a pure tube tone, look no further. What a beautiful sounding amp. When there wasn’t a ton of static. Very disappointing that there was tons of “white noise”. Turned the volume up more noise. All cords removed, still static. Arrived in a box that was pretty beat up with the contents haphazardly inside.

Read the expert reviews online. They're all true. Hand wired makes it easier to implement modifications such as adding an FX loop.

This amp sounds stupid good. I have an AC30 and a Supersonic 22, and I don't even really need to use them anymore. They're too loud for my apartment and too heavy to bother lugging around; this thing solves both those issues.You can absolutely get clean tones at loud volumes usinsg the Low channel with the Cool circuit and your guitar's volume control; doesn't have AC30 levels of headroom, but I never needed that much anyway. It might only be the top boost circuit from an AC30, but the combination of the Hot & Cool switch, the High and Low channels, and the EQ give you a lot of options to shape the tone. It sounds like a cranked AC30 but at usable volumes, and the dynamics you can wring out of it are killer. I'm running an AVRI Jazzmaster into it using the rhythm circuit almost exclusively and it just rules.The only thing I don't really use too much is the Hot circuit, because it really boosts the volume, and the thing is already pretty loud. Not sure what I'd use that for yet, but I'll figure it out.There's no FX loop, but I don't care. Just throw pedals at this thing, revel in whatever sounds come out, enjoy it. I'm glad they're still making these amps, and I think I'll be enjoying this one for a long time.

Freakin awesome little amp. All that most of us would need, even if playing in a small ensemble. No Marshall slayer in terms of volume, but we knew that going in. Besides, not every gig requires that kind of volume. In fact most don't in my experience. Here's your secret weapon for those other times. 4 Watts never sounded better. A little spendy to be sure, but you buy a great amp and you'll own it for a long time. I have a great British combo I bought 23 years ago. It's been all over the country with me. Probably will never part with it. I have a feeling this new little puppy will share the same fate. It's a keeper. Peace, GW

Love. Love. Love. The tone is gorgeous and flexible. Rewards nuanced and dynamic play style. Incredibly simple unit. Lovely to look at. Every time I turn this thing off and walk away, I'm back in five minutes for more. It is absolutely possible to enjoy the AC4 at a volume that your apartment neighbors won't complain about (or notice). Sad to say, but that was a really big deal for me.To be clear: This amp lives in a home studio and probably won't be played live much or ever have to compete with a drummer. It would be the perfect amp for a living room show with no PA support. Or if you want to play with an acoustic ensemble. I play a Gibson SG Special and tend to want to write arty, melodic post-hc/grunge songs. Dialing up a tone that rides the line between clean and distorted is dead simple. I picked the AC4HW1 over a Fender Princeton Reverb, which are great but have to be turned up a lot to get the best tone.FYI, before I picked the handwired model, I tried the standard AC4 at Guitar Center. That amp is also great, but the HW1 is an obvious upgrade.

今までもVOXのアンプ使ってました。小さいながらも強烈に頼りになるVBM1。ブライアン・メイがクイーンでの録音に使っていたディーキーアンプをVOXで模したもの。ほんとに素晴らしいアンプでしたが、やはりチューブの良いアンプも欲しい・・。そこで以前から目をつけていたのがこのVOX AC30HW2!!もっと前はお買い得なアウトレット品がたくさん市場に溢れていました。それを見ていたので余裕こいてたら、あっという間に市場からどんどん無くなってΣ(￣ロ￣lll)ｶﾞｰﾝ『今を逃したら定価物しかなくなる!!』決断して注文。てか1回もっと安価なの注文したんですがタッチの差で店舗で売れたと連絡がきました。で、ちょっと値が上がりますがすぐこの安価なモデルを注文。無事注文確定で届きました^^vまず、なんと言っても筐体がでかい!!強烈にでかい!!そして重い。。かなり前にもAC30の国内８０台限定のモデルを持っていたので(ちなみに売ってしまいましたが^^;)かなり大きいのはわかってましたが、久しぶりに対面するAC30・・こんなでかかったか＠＠；ちなみに運送屋さんがかなり苦しく嫌そうに持ってきたと家人が言ってました^^;早速音出しを試みました。ギターはうちにあるギターの中でリファレンス的な役割を担うグヤトーン・マロリー。グヤトーン、アンプで名をはせていましたがギターも凄くいいんですよ^^v潰れてしまったのがほんとに残念です('・ω・`)AC30のインプットは基本的にHIGHに入れてのレビューです。まずノーマルチャンネル。今回の目的はこれだったと言ってもいい質素かつ素晴らしいチャンネル。基本ボリュームのみです。それにBRIGHTスイッチのオン/オフ。エフェクターを何もかけずにギターを直で繋ぎますチューブらしい音圧をきっちり感じ(音量でかめ^^;)癖のない奇麗な音(BRIGHTスイッチはオフ)この状態でBRIGHTスイッチをオンにするとノイズがちょっと目立ちます。煌びやかには鳴りますが『おお、すごい変わった』とまではいきません。(何もしないとですが・・後述します)そしてもう一つのトップ・ブースト・チャンネル。これも素晴らしく良かった^^ボリュームとトレブル、バス、の他にHOT/COOLスイッチがあります。これはCOOLの場合はトーンコントロールが効きます。HOTにするとバイパスされてトーンはほとんど効きません。別にマスターボリュームがありまして、それとトップ・ブースト・チャンネルのボリュームでオーバードライブさせた音を作り出せます。クランチとオーバードライブサウンドはフットスイッチで切り替えできます。あとオーバードライブのかかりをよくするためにはHOTにしてトーンをバイパスさせます。このオーバードライブサウンドが素晴らしい^^v勿論マーシャルまでは歪みませんが、それでもかなり強く歪んで美しいODサウンドです^^これは予想外の収穫です。こんなに素晴らしく歪むなんて^^vさて今回の購入目的は綺麗なクリーン状態にエフェクトをかけて使うという目的でしたが・・さて^^;空間系のエフェクターも試してみたかったのですがコンセントが足りず今回は歪物だけ試してみました。まずランドグラフのディストーション・ボックス、キーリーのDS1各自をノーマルチャンネルで試しました。ランドグラフは正直高いだけで大失敗したな～と思ってました。繋ぎます。正直値段ほどの音は感じられません。もやってます。AC30HWをしてもダメか…と思いきや・・ブライトスイッチをONにしたら・・『おおかなりブライトになって音が全面にでてきたぞ^^』まず合格かな・・?次にキーリー。これはランドグラフに正直失望したため購入したモデル。これもやはりブライトオフよりはブライトオンの方がずっと音が立ちます。これも合格。次にマンライサウンドのロンノベンダー。早い話トーンベンダーMK1のクローンです。電池を変えてからイマイチ効き方が変わってつかいづらくなってました。AC30HWとの相性は・・。これは素晴らしい!!まさにトーンベンダーの音。これミック・ロンソンのモデルですがまさにそれ。やはりブライトスイッチをONすると抜けが良くなり素晴らしい。ああやっぱりトーンベンターはいい^^次に予想外に素晴らしかったトップ・ブースト・チャンネルを試してみます。そのままでも十分素晴らしい歪なのですが、ちょっとあまり活躍していないペダルがあるので試す。アイバニーズのチューブスクリーマーTS808HW。こちらもハンドワイアード。しかし今までの私の機材では・・ちょっとかわいそうな使い方をしてましたが・・こ、これは素晴らしい!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!超絶素晴らしい!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!これがほとんど使う出番のなかったTS808HWなのか＠＠；もう最初からすばらしいAC30HWの歪に深みと艶を与えてくれる。やはりブースターとしてはもうとんでもなく素晴らしい。アンプとの相性もかなりよかったのもあるでしょうが。いやー、これは^^;エフェクターの使用方法を考えなければならないな～。最後に今まで使っていたVBM1をプリアンプとしてAC30HWに繋ぐ。VBM1は最初からプリアンプとして使われることも考慮されてます。これまたなかなか素晴らしい。同じVOX同士ということもあるのでしょうが・・。ただアイバニーズとの相性が素晴らしすぎて・・ちょっと霞む^^;いや～このアンプはほんとに素晴らしい。今ちょっと高い値段になってますがその値段でも全然お得です。やはりチューブアンプは違う。音圧を感じながらギターを弾けるというのは嬉しい。ノーマルチャンネルのみ期待して購入したのだがトップ・ブースト・チャンネルの素晴らしさにはびっくりしました。今のプライスでも十分買いです!!コントロール類はほんとに少ないですがそこが又良かったりします^^その少ないコントロール類で素晴らしいサウンドが生まれます。迷ってらっしゃる方いたら今すぐ購入を勧めます。無くなってからじゃ遅いですよ^^;私もほんとは秋あたりと思ってましたがタマが無くなって来たので前倒しでの購入。ギターとあなたのポテンシャルを最大限発揮してくれる素晴らしいギターアンプ。アンプ直の方もエフェクトで音作る方もどちらにも対応してくれるアンプです。5つ★なんかじゃ全然足りません。欲しかったら今すぐ自分の欲望に正直になりましょう^^

とりあえずフルチューブでカッコいい奴ってな感じで決めたんですが、音イイです。私の持っているギター（リッケンバッカーとグレッチ）とも相性抜群な感じです。本体の機能としては、リバーブが無いのはやはり残念ですね。購入前jはリバーブなんてディレイとか持ってるから必要ないって思っていたのですが、やっぱり在ったほうが良い感じです。安物のアンプばかり使ってきていた時の癖が抜けないんでしょうか、本体でゲイン稼げるのにオーバードライブで歪作って使ってます。でも、クリーンの音が素晴らしいんですよ。昔からの憧れだったチューブアンプ楽しんでます。

とてもよい音がします。クリーンからクランチまで、幅広く使える音が自在です。同社のAC4TVと比較すると、より上品な感じです。このアンプでVOXファンになりました!

今までクラスA駆動のアンプは沢山試して来ましたが、これはクリーン、クランチ共にすごくいいアンプですね。ただトレブルを12時以降に回すとベースが減衰するのは仕様なんでしょうか？

約半年待ってついに買いました。京都の楽器屋さんで店員さんがおすすめしてくれて、試し弾きをしたときの感動が蘇る音の厚み！！VOXファン関係なく、最高のアンプの一つだと思います
