This ship is an amazing addition to any X-Wing Miniatures or Star Wars Model collection!
Finally we get to own and play the first ship we ever saw in the original Star Wars saga! First off, I can't figure out how they can mass produce ships like these! The model is beautifully detailed and fully playable in the X-Wing Miniatures Game. It's also an awesome display piece for my gaming room. It's not perfectly to scale with the other X-Wing ships, this is true, but it wouldn't be very playable if it had been, so they compromised to give us this amazing addition to the game! The ship comes with lots of bits and pieces, too. Some of the cards can even be used in the standard (IE not epic) games. The ship takes damage either to it's fore or aft sections, and is effectively still in the game until both sections have been destroyed. It has a primary weapon that also shoots further than anything else in the game! All told, this purchase has been a "no-brainer" for me personally. This ship is great eye candy, fun to play in the Epic Battles, and makes for a very nice "terrain piece" in standard games to mix things up a little. If you are looking to add some variety and spice to your games of X-Wing, you need this ship. If you collect Star Wars models, you need this ship! If you just want an amazing display piece for your den/man cave/ game room, etc - you need this ship! Trust me, yes it costs a bit more than the other X-Wing Miniatures ships/models do, but you get a lot for your money and Amazon has this available at an unbeatable price!

Surprisingly powerful boat, plus key X-Wings
The Rebel Transport is not to be underestimated, and the X-Wings that come with it are no pushovers, either. Plus, it includes new Astromech droids which change the game for the Y-Wings and new torpedoes that work well in starfighter combat. Let's start with the Rebel Transport. After playing a few games with it (including one 150-point game of 2 X-Wings & a 50-point Rebel Transport build vs. 150 points of TIE Bombers, Fighters, and the Lambda Shuttle, in which the 2 X-Wings and Rebel Transport prevailed), I'm tempted to call it overpowered. No guns? It doesn't need guns to wreck TIEs, and its support abilities, when augmented, can provide devastating disabilities on enemies fleets. It's surprisingly versatile, so there are different ways to build the transport to fight against small and large ships--against both dozens of small TIEs and powerful Firesprays. I'm hoping to play with it more in the future, as it's an impressive and tough ship. As for the new X-Wing pilots, getting Wes into your squadron is critical. Wes' ability is to be reckoned with; a Wes + Veteran & Wedge + Opportunist can wreck the board, and I expect we'll be seeing that duo a lot. The fletchette torpedoes pave the way for the future of stress tokens, as the Rebel Transport has the means to both inflict stress tokens and deal damage to ships who have stress, and with Wave 4 coming soon, I'm sure we'll see new methods of dealing with and exploiting stress. Finally, the astromechs. These astromechs bring some interesting diversity, but I'm not sure that we'll see all of them in tournaments. They create new ways of handling (and sharing) stress, new mechanics for regenerating shields, and allow Y-Wings and X-Wings like Biggs and Garvin to finally get some Elite Pilot upgrades (Biggs + Draw their Fire perhaps? And giving Garvin some Veteran Instincts would allow better use of that focus token he gives). This new expansion is a game-changer. Get your own, soon! I've had so much fun with this one that I may get another.

Excellent value!
Expanding my existing Squadrons and also doing repaints on 1st Edition ships to field, using my 2nd Edition cards, dials and base cards. These TIE’s are currently super cheap @ $8-$9, as well as other 1st Edition ships. With the conversion kits going for $20-$26, depending on factions, it makes economic sense to convert some ships, as the final costs are cheaper than buying 2nd Edition ones alone. Just be careful, as some 2nd Edition ships have new cards, that aren’t available in the 2nd Edition Conversion Kits, I believe the C-Roc is one of them. Additionally, there are 2nd Edition ship sculpts that you may want instead, like the X-Wings closing S-foils, the B-Wings rotating cockpit, or the Fangs movable wings.... etc. aren’t available on 1st Edition ships. In certain instances, a conversion kit may not even be necessary, as you’re only able to field a certain point value each game. Models come with multiple ship base cards, so using 2nd Edition ship dials and items, on repainted 1st Edition ships of the same type is more than doable. It adds variety to the games and I think it’s fun. Having the entire Rebel Gold, Red, Blue, Phoenix Squadrons or an entire Imperial Squadron of Black, Blue, Yellow or Red TIE Fighters or Interceptors. Maybe each Imperial Fleet and Rebel Cell had its own colored fighter squadrons and there were many. I think the possibilities are endless.

Alderaan's consular ship, the TANTIVE IV
This is an awesome product. Aside from the Star Wars: X-wing Miniatures game play features (which gives your side a great advantage in the game), it's also a beautiful display piece (when not playing the game, or if you don't play but just collect Star Wars replicas.) The TANTIVE IV is a consular ship seen in the opening space battle of "Star Wars: Episode IV-A New Hope". Carrying princess Leia Organa and being pursued by an Imperial Star Destroyer with the villainous Darth Vader on board, the TANTIVE IV is one of the most iconic ships in the Star Wars universe. The detail is exquisite, the size is impressive, and the ship just looks awesome! May the Force be with you...always.

Nice details, bad assembly job
I bought this miniature as a display piece only. I do not play the board game at all. As a model builder and collector, I have long wanted decent models of Star Wars capital ships. Previously, models of this ship were only available as expensive resin kits. Now with this FFG release, we finally have an inexpensive and seemingly accurate Tantive IV model. The details of the model don't disappoint. It looks entirely proportional and it seems the designers have done their homework. However, I quickly realized that the rear of the model received a sub-par assembly job at the factory. The result was crooked and misaligned engines which really detract from the overall presentation of the ship. Unfortunately, the parts are all glued together quite well so disassembling the engine assembly (with the aim of reassembling everything properly aligned) will take some effort. The paint job is decent for something that is mass produced. I expect that pickier collectors would want to repaint theirs anyways. Overall this is a great addition to any star wars model collection. It is a shame that it suffers from some quality control issues. I have written to FFG to suggest this and their other larger gaming miniatures be converted to unassembled model kits. I know I can speak for the sci-fi modeling community when i say that they would be well recieved indeed. I know I'd snap them up in a heartbeat!

Giant sized fun
The Decimator is my 9 year-old son's favorite ship. It is huge, Captain Oicunn is fun to run over the competition with his ability to ram opponents to do damage and is great in casual games. Rear Admiral Chiraneau changes one focus to a critical hit, which is also a nice offensive capability. RAC is an extremely competitive tournament favorite and many players team him with either a TIE Phantom like Echo, or a TIE Interceptor like Soontir Fel. The biggest advantage of the ship is that it is a turret with 12 hull points and 4 sheilds. Your opponent must engage with the Decimator, and it has no "blind spots." It is the only ship that I recommend using the Elite Pilot Upgrade "Expose" which can improve your 3 red dice to 4 without a drawback. (Expose usually decreases your maneuver by one but the Decimator starts at 0 so it can't go to a negative number of dice.) The only drawback is that you will often have 45-60 of your 100 squad points wrapped up in one package so it is difficult to have more than 1 or possibly 2 escort ships.

Escape Hoth in Style!
Firstly, it is beautiful. People I have shown say it is their favorite ship (even though it is a transport) because of how great the model is. This really is some of the best paint work I have seen from this game. Also, it is great to have a repaint on the included X-Wing without being too gaudy. Although I haven't had a chance to deploy it in an actual game, I have gotten a chance to get a good look at the new missions. All I am going to say is that I am really looking forward to escaping Hoth in this bad-boy! It has no offensive capability, but it makes up for it with excellent support roles and a VERY small squad cost. Again, haven't used it in a game yet, so this is hoping it is useful in that!

my interest is solely in a nice desktop ornament
I have no interest in the X-Wing Miniatures game this is part of; my interest is solely in a nice desktop ornament. And, as a miniature model to please the eyes, this thing is spot on. The seams were pieces of the mold came together are barely visible. The paint job is great, even replicating the essential wear-and-tear of the "lived-in" Star Wars universe. They even got the vertical "pincers" around the laser tips open (I've seen other replicas that just slap in a solid semi-circular piece). I kind of wish there was some red or blue on the astromech droid (it's just silver here) and some striping on the wings to indicate whether this is Red 1, 2, etc. But, those are quibbles; even sitting still next to my monitor, this thing seems to soar.
