Swedish Death Metal

Daniel Ekeroth gives an amazingly detailed account of the birth and rise of one the most revered genres of metal music. It focuses on the seeds of the extreme movement and how it developed into the massive Sunlight sound and beyond. It basically leaves no stones unturned on the origins of these Swedish bands. the book includes first hand accounts from many people in those bands and people involved with zines, radioshows ect This book is truly hard to put down. If you are looking for info about In Flames, Dark Tranquillity or other Gothenburg bands do not look here. The closest you will get is some info from Michael Amott from Arch Enemy but if you didn't know he was apart of the seminal band Carnage. Get it now!

With it's diligent research, copious rare graphics, enthusiastic delivery and quality printing, this just may be the best book ever written on any aspect of heavy metal. It goes to show just how well the music can be documented when you have an author that really gives a damn! The author deserves our gratitude and praise for the amount of work and love put into this book, which is staggering in it's exhaustive nature.

Really authoritative book on origins and rise of the Swedish death metal scene. The focus is definitely on the old-school Stockholm sound and bands like nihilist/entombed, dismember, grave etc. Excellent book though author definitely is NOT a fan of the 'gothenburg' sound so look elsewhere for information on that.

Está lleno de fotos e incluso en su parte trasera trae una enciclopedia de 150 paginas con nombres y discografia de todos los grupos suecos de death metal de la historia.

Pretty detailed but very opinionate book. I really enjoyed it and I will refer it to friends in the future.

Daniel Ekeroth writes in a very cool way that story, it has a lot of photos, anecdotes and so on. I love this beautiful stuff!

Well set out book on the history of the Swedish Death metal scene, good resources of pictures and gig flyers. And I discovered new bands. A good read and source of all things Death Metal from Sweden.

This book is very complete, starting from the very begining of death metal, introducting us the the metal scene in sweden in the early 80' with a lot of interview from legends of the SDM scene, such as Dismember, Entombed.
