When is a lock not a lock?
So. Rule 1 of a lock being a lock? It needs to lock. Rule 2? that would be unlock. A training lock (which this is) is see through. That way you can see how things move when you interact with it. So lets grab the key and try it. No, lets not. It doesn't work with the key. There are some marks inside the plastic indicating it has moved at some point in its life or maybe they are just casting flaws. Either way, I don't fancy breaking the tip off the picking tool with the amount of force that would be needed to turn a couple of the deeper discs. So when is a lock not a lock? when it's a paperweight.Edit:- sent it back and ordered a replacement. new Lock is ok BUT the pick is crap. The tip is fitted bent at a weird angle. By the time I finished filing it to shape there was so little metal left it failed and lost the tip after only one successful use so now binned. After 2 buying failures in succession I wouldn't bother buying one of these. Save your money and maybe put it towards a sparrows lpl/bb pick and a cheap disc detainer lock instead. At least then you get something that works

Shockingly low quality.
Just don't.I purchased this for the practice lock, it's terrible - not in the sense that it's not a secure lock, but in the sense that the manufacturing quality is so low it isn't analogous to picking a real lock - there is so much play & slackness that it's pointless.Returning as not fit for purpose.

Broken acrylic lock, and bent tool
When the package arrived I tested the acrylic lock first with the keys. Key goes in fine, turns half way then binds up.As far as the tool goes, the tip arrived bent. It hasn't been bent in shipping as it has been welded on bent.

Ok
Not great the pick won't defeat the practice lock out of the box it needs filing down

Sadly the tip was crooked
The tip is attached at a crooked angle

Useless. Lock picking head oversized
Useless: the transparent lock is of bad quality but most importantly the picking tool is oversized, even for this lock. The head is too big to turn the pins individually, always turning 2 of them at a time. You can quickly check by comparing it to the holes in the actual key: it does’t fit them. In addition to this it’s also too big to move across the pins so if you set one then you can’t move to the next one.

Good visual tool. But poor for picking training.
Good for visualising the operation of this lock type. However poor tolerances make for limited learning potential in terms of picking. My padlock broke internally the in the first hour.

The pick is ok, the lock is terrible
The discs in the lock have about 5mm of slop. This makes it very difficult to use with the key, let alone for picking practice. On the other hand, the pick is just as I expected. It's the rather generic basic low security disc detainer pick. That said, it's perfect for my beginner needs.
