Old English Scratch Cover for Light Woods, 8 Fl Oz.

I used this on a few pieces around the house that had gone chalky and gray looking: an oak end table that sits near a window, the arms of a dining chair, and a hollow-core cabinet door with years of surface wear. Shake it well, put a small amount on a soft cloth, wipe with the grain, let it sit a minute, then buff off the excess. That's the whole process, and one 8 oz bottle goes a long way I barely made a dent doing three pieces. Where it really earns its keep is dried-out wood. The oak table looked thirsty and washed out; after one pass the grain darkened back to a warm honey tone and the color depth came back almost immediately. It's the same effect as wiping a dusty rock with a wet thumb, except it doesn't disappear when it dries. Fine surface scuffs and light scratches blend in and mostly stop catching your eye, and it leaves a low satin sheen rather than a greasy shine. A few honest caveats. "Scratch Cover" oversells it this is a tinted oil that camouflages damage, not a filler that repairs it. Anything deep enough to catch a fingernail will still be there, just less obvious. The tint is real, so test an inconspicuous spot first: on very pale or bleached woods it can read slightly darker than expected, and make sure you're grabbing the light woods version and not the dark. It's oil-based, so it takes a few passes of buffing to avoid a tacky feel, and you'll want to reapply every few months on high-touch surfaces since it's a conditioner, not a finish. Rags soaked in it should be laid flat to dry before you toss them. Bottom line: for the price, it's the fastest way I've found to make tired, dried-out light wood look cared for again. Just go in expecting a restorer, not a refinisher.

If you have new or antique real wood furniture, this works like a charm. I used to buy Old English at the grocery store but can't find it anymore, except on Amazon. It fixed the scratches on my hard wood floor, a wooden antique ice box and antique floor radio. If you're trying to bring new life to wooden surfaces, this is the go to product to use. Apply on an old cotton towel or even paper towel, it's not messy & it blends well. Brings life back to treasured furniture.

I will never be without this light wood scratch polish. You can use it on darker woods. It’s great if the dog or the cat accidentally rubs against something or if the kids hit something. It covers up a lot of sins on wood naturally it does a great job. I love this product. It’s not cheap, but it works on Oak really well.

This is the first time I've used a scratch cover product to hide the cat scratches all over my medium oak dining room table. The first day I used this I could still see some of the scratches. But after the second day they seemed to disappear. What we did is apply the polish/scratch cover and rub it in with a rag. Then used another rag to remove the excess and polish the table. I threw both of those rags away as I didn't want to put them in the washer and dryer. The next day my husband polished the table again just with a dry rag. The next time I sat down at the table I could not see the shallow scratches. There are two scratches that are really deep and those don't seem to absorb this product and I'm not sure what type of material is underneath the oak veneer. But for the most part I'm very happy with the results. If you want to make your table really shiny for a day this might also work for you. I also tried this on bookshelves and kitchen cabinets and it made them all really shiny for about a day when it seems to have evaporated or soaked in. I was thinking I was just going to have to buy a new dining room table but now I'm thinking I can wait a little longer as it now looks great. ~The Rebecca Review P.S. As always this works great! our woodwork around the door casings were badly scratched by our cats. I applied the Old English, and the scratches are barely visible. Added benefit the cats don't like the smell, so they do not scratch it anymore.

very good product, have used it for years. I keep a cloth just for this oil. I highly recommend it.

The product is fine, but the delivery was wonky — only in a plastic bag with no paperwork, and delivered to the wrong address. Fortunately, my neighbor figured out that it might be something I had ordered.

Does what it says,works on wood

Did the job very well in covering over a scratch in our country redwood antique dinning room table. Amazed how well it blended in with the original colour. Expensive, but it works well.
