SABRE Pepper Gel Spray with Fast Flip Top Safety & Snap‑Clip Keychain

This is my go-to pepper spray for personal safety. I like the nice color, and it feels sturdy and well-made. I especially like the protective cover, which helps prevent accidental spraying while carrying it. Compact, easy to carry, and gives me extra peace of mind.

Came quickly. It seems easy to use (although I hope I never have to use it!), and carrying it with me when I'm walking around town or campus at night makes me feel more calm, at ease, and confident. I love the pretty, pastel purple color, as well as all the options for colors. Got the version with the little clasp on the keyring, and it's been great and super convenient for attaching it to different things (my lanyard vs my backpack) when I need to. Will probably look to repurchase eventually when this current one expires.

*BUY THIS!!! I was out walking my 2 small dogs when a Great Dane and German Shepherd (running loose) charged us. It was absolutely terrifying! I had bought this pepper spray exactly for this type of situation. (I live in a small town and people often let their dogs roam unleashed.) Anyway, I pulled this out and began to spray, aiming for their faces when they were probably 20 ft away. It took a few moments to register but when the pepper spray started working its magic those dogs stopped in their tracks and immediately started shaking their heads , whining, rubbing there faces and then trotted away from us. That little bottle of spray gel saved us! I don't even like to think of what may have happened if I didn't have it. I chose the gel because I didn't want the blowback mist ending up on me or my dogs. And the gel worked perfectly, it was an orangish colored stream and since I could see it, I could aim appropriately. Also, zero blowback on us. Anyway, I highly recommend this as it was truly a lifesaver!!

I have been carrying Sabre pepper sprays for at least a decade, and it’s always the brand I’ll repurchase when they expire and need replacing. I’m a young woman using public transit in a city, so the peace of mind this provides is priceless. I keep it attached to a retractable badge reel on the outside of my purse for easy access, and I highly recommend doing this (you can find some cute ones here or on shein). In the event of actually needing to use this, you don’t want to be fumbling around for it. The quality feels the exact same as it always has, and I much prefer this flip top design over the ones with the twist lock. I never had issues with the twist lock, but it just felt like with that design it’d be a little easier for an accidental discharge than with this one. Also, this isn’t as important but a plus side is that it’s cute! I used to always just get the black but decided to go for the Chambray Blue this time and it’s such a pretty color. I’d gotten the black previously so it would blend in with the outside of my purse, but this time I thought that if maybe people could see that I have pepper spray at easy access it would cut down on being approached by certain characters at bus stops and train stations. This is one of those things that you hope you’ll never need to use, but will be so grateful you have if you do. I recommend that every woman carry some form of self defense, and this is a really great option for those who aren’t comfortable with pocket knives or stun guns—and they’re also much easier to use quickly.

Really like it. The only thing I don’t love about it is the cap flips up easily. I guess it could be a pro and con. But honestly for the price I’m happy with it and always carry it with me. I would suggest this to my family and friends. Every women should have some spray

I often ride the city bus and walk a lot during the day and at night, so I started carrying pepper spray after I've had a few sketchy incidents with crazy people entering into my workplace and also encountering crazy people at a bus stop near the college campus. Fortunately, I have never been hurt or anything, but those kinds of situations can be traumatizing, and you never know when a situation can get out of hand. Those are times that would be good to have pepper spray just in case. I really like the flip top design rather than some of those other sliding tab ones that Sabre sells. The sliding ones felt kind of loose and felt like it may accidentally discharge in my pocket, but with this one, I don't feel like I need to worry about it because you have to slide your finger under the spring hinged cap and press down to shoot the gel. The key ring is nice and I always keep it on my lanyard. Although one time, the bottom, which is attached to the key ring got detached from the rest of the body of the pepper spray, but it was easy to just push back in and I didn't even have to use any kind of glue. I gave it a few hard tugs and it stayed together, so I think it should be good. I gave it a few test shots (which I recommend everyone do once they get it to see if it is working properly and so that they get some practice) and I'd say it shot out about 9 to 10 ft in a non-windy conditions. Overall, the design is really nice, and it sprays a good distance, but your aim has to be pretty accurate since it shoots in a stream rather than a mist. It fits nicely in the pocket and I often forget that I have it in my pocket. If you are walking someplace that maybe unsafe or walking at night, I recommend you walk with it in your hand or with your hand in your pocket, with your thumb under the flip top and over the button, so you can be ready to use it if it comes down to it. It's a great thing to have even if you don't think you'll need it. Just make sure that if you get one, replace it after the expiration date. I am a male in my twenties and I never thought I would want or need one, but I realized that it's a good thing to have just in case. Hopefully, I'll never have to use it, outside of testing and practicing.

Some things to think about: I really prefer the flip top cap off the “switch style” cap so this unit is superior in my opinion. I wish this had a clip option rather than just the key ring because I prefer pocket carry. This video spray is being shown in the 10-12’ range and I did have to aim up just a bit. I think this product would work best at less 10’ or less. There was a cyclical wind gust and this gel stream did well but still was being blown a little. Compared to other sprays I trialed, this one was easier to see hit the target with the “orange/reddish” color, which I definitely prefer. There is a decent amount of spray time as well. I didn’t go back and time it but there was plenty of spray/gel for pocket or key carry. The size is perfect in my opinion but like I said I would prefer a pocket clip. There are several colors to choose from. The lighter and brighter colors might be easier to find I looking for it quick in a arm rest or pocketbook etc. but I would recommend having it at the ready at all times and/or in high risk situations. I would recommend getting at least a 2 pack to practice with one and keep the other handy. The 3 pack is best. Carry one, put one in the car or next to the bedroom/house, one to trial. Hope this helps, the final ruling is I definitely recommend this Sabre product.

The product I received is ineffective as person while using spray herself/himself is prone to be affected to such spray due to wind blowing Just like hitting at your own feet. As it can be self damaging while using so actually become useless and I have to discard. Avoid such products, want to return but NO response.

Sabre is a US made, quality gel-based Pepper Spray, unlike many of the Chinese ones available in the market. When it comes to security, get one which will not fail in an emergency. It can be carried everyday because of its small size and compactness. I purchased two for the ladies in the family to carry on their keychain/purse. The safety cap prevents accidental discharge while in the purse or pocket. The Company claims nearly 25 sprays (Gel) with a range of upto 12 feet. Since it is gel-based, it outputs a steady jet while most other canisters throw fumes-like spray. The gel keeps you safe from reverse spray due to wind or when in closed spaces. I feel every lady should carry atleast a small keychain torch and a pepper spray, for self-defence while travelling alone. Of course, keeping it handy and ready to use in doubtful situations is more important than just carrying it around.
