Great metal hoof jack
THIS HOOF JACK IS METAL and it's heavy. Finally ready to get started on my own hoof care for my horses. This stand was reasonably priced and seems very sturdy. The magnets are super strong and I can't wait to use it on my horses! ONE THING: You WILL need to drill more holes, as this hoof jack is a little too high, even on the lowest setting. It has been stated in other reviews, but wanted to say it again. I suspected it going in after reading the reviews, but bought it anyway. Do NOT regret my purchase, but I am going to need to drill one or possibly two other holes. My horses didn't like having their hooves so high to trim/rasp. None of my horses are below 14 hands, so it's not a short horse issue, lol.

Light weight, lots of flexibility in terms of use but really solid piece of equipment
Despite the name of the company, there is close to no plastic involved. It's only lightweight because it's made out of a wide but sculpted steel plate base and steel tubing.Well thought out design: it's easy to swap between a hoof support and a leg support; when you pull a pin it's natural instinct is to stick to the adjacent magnet, whichever side the pin is on, so you don't lose it; the support tube that you are not using right now sticks to either of the magnets and stays out of the way and out of sight whether in use or when carrying. If you want to treat hooves in a way that feels secure to the horse and at a comfortable height for both of you, orients the hoof the way you need it for what you are doing without overloading your back/shoulders/knees/wallet, then this is the thing for you.The only tool you need for final assembly is a wide-ish flat head screwdriver.

Made of metal and a true back saver!
I have been trimming my horse's feet for 30+ years. I keep my horses barefoot because they really don't need shoes. Years ago my farrier at the time taught me how to do it (it's not rocket science he said) and that way I could keep them up most of the time and he only had to trek out twice a year. However, I do not stand back up straight like I used to 30+ years ago and this product is PERFECT to save me from more visits to the chiropractor! It is very sturdy, easy to change out "heads" and exactly what I was hoping for!! Although it comes from "Plastics" it is made of heavy metal and not plastic at all. Hint: if you want to do your horse's feet yourself, remember you are not obligated to do all 4 hooves on the same day - for the Mustang, two a day is plenty and for the 8 month old filly one is quiet enough. Rather than battle, we end on a happy note and that way down the road it becomes easier. The other 4 will stand still and let you get it over with.

High Contry Farrier Stand well worth the money and high quality
I bought the farrier stand for my husband because he wanted to start doing our horses hooves to save money. We looked at different reviews and prices on amazon to find the best quality farrier stand that will meet what we are looking for.The package was well secured and came with easy instruction on setting it up. It is sturdy and seems very durable. My husband and I both thought the magnetic piece was helpful because it allows you to put farrier tools and the extended pole for the stand. The test was for my husband to do our horses hooves and this stand met our expectations on being sturdy and stayed in place while he did the horses hooves. He said it was easier on his back because since he is 6' 4'' this stand helped him not bend over so far. It's easy to put away in the tack room and doesn't take up much room. Definitely worth the money and recommend anyone looking for a high quality farrier stand.

Heavy duty, too tall for ponies, poor packaging
Product is heavy duty, but will be too tall for ponies or small horses. Packaging or lack there of caused loose bolts, missing nuts and washer and the shaft to be all scratched up from banging into itself.

NOT Plastic - Steel!
Awesome stand! Base is diamond plate steel and post is steel- not plastic! It is very stable. Plus, it has 2 attachments: the usual round one for dressing the outside of the hoof, and one (pictured on the stand) that you can put the hoof on to work on for rasping/nipping the hoof growth. This particular attachment gives you something to push against as you rasp. This feature is really important to me as my hackney pony is a little small to wrangle his foot between my legs. Also, the lowest height of the stand is perfect for my 12.3H pony. Nifty and quite strong magnetic thing-y on the side that I use for the hoof pick - but it will hold heavier stuff. It grabs the rasp every now and again, but this is only mildly annoying. With this stand, and Jaime Jackson's "The Natural Trim", I trim my little guy's feet perfectly. No more waiting for and paying for!) the farrier every 6 weeks! Yayyy! (plus my pony kinda digs it as he gets treated and pampered while I trim :-)

Very sturdy
I have drafts and needed something to hold a foot while treating an abscess. I am pleasantly surprised that it has held up extremely well the 10 or times I've used it on a 18h mare that was not happy about her feet being messed with. The magnet didn't stay well but that was the least of my worries. Highly recommend for occasional use.
