They work!
They call Chicago the windy city, they haven't been to Flagstaff in the Spring! 50-60 mph gusts happen at 6500', sitting in the open, at the base of the Peaks! These clips work! Bit of an application learning curve, but soon you're clicking 'em in, quickly. Use a curved tip needle nose plier and work all projections cleanly through the sunshade before snapping together. Don't be afraid to work the tip of plier through the weave of the material to squeeze, while holding together with other hand. These have held a 6'x30' sunshade, on a curved metal, trellis-like frame, through the worst. They're great! How long they will last, exposed to the elements 24/7/365, remains to be seen, but they're the bomb!

Worked great to hold my %shade cloth in place.
I used these along the edge of my shade cloth over my greenhouse and, also, l along the edge of my shade house. They work great though there is a small learning curve initially... I found pushing the little pegs through the cloth initially allowed for an easier closing...and when positioned accurately, I used channel lock pliers tom push them together. I've been very pleased and they are dirt cheap. I had a seam to rip out down the center of my shade cloth in my shade house and repaired it today...I used these butter fly clips to bring the two sides together...one butterfly clip on each side every 3 feet. I used light baling wire to tie the two clips together.....just bought more clips to have for my next repair.

Works well but hard to clip together
Works well, but need to use pliers to help clamp it together. Also not the easiest to have the shade cloth go through the "teeth", but the clips work well in holding together. The hinge part does break apart from the sun over time, so best to fold the su. Shade over the wire, and clip over it folded so the teeth hold if the hinge ever breaks.

Awesome product
I donโt know what the reviews are talking about them being hard to install or that you need a pair of pliers. I installed 14 of them on a 23โ x12โ shade with my bare hands no problem. I did however use a pair of pliers to grip them together after they snapped in place with my fingers just in case but I donโt actually think it helped at all. Fingers were fine and really easy to install. They held up to a pretty decent wind storm already. Actually the bungee cords I used broke in the wind but these stayed perfectly in tact. The trick to installing them is to just make sure the fabric goes around the little nubs before you snap them. Use your fingers to get the nub side through the fabric before you snap them and you will love them. Well worth the money.

Super hard to snap on! And you can't unsnap it if you want to readjust without breaking them!
Looks well made, but it was SUPER hard to snap on! My hubby had trouble trying to snap them together even with pliers. When we made a mistake and wanted to readjust the clips, it wouldn't let us unsnap it without breaking off the snaps. Frustrating. I hope this lasts though.

Very high quality, will last years
We used a couple dozen of these on a huge patio shade we made about 6 years ago, and we just bought more to build another one. The clips on the old one were still in great shape when I took it down to repair some of the wooden structure it was attached to. I think you'll find that one of the wood, the fastener/screws, or the shade cloth itself will fail long before these do.

Become brittle and break in the sun
Coolaroo needs to improve this product. They become brittle and break. I bought three 20-packs two years ago and installed them holding three 6' x 30' runs of shade cloth spanned lengthwise between nylon coated cables. This setup shades my back yard from the intense sun here in Southern California. The cables slide through the clips and are rather loosely spanned, not taut. Despite claiming three times in their product description that their plastic is "UV stabilized to provide lasting protection from the sun's rays," ten of the 60 clips have deteriorated and broken at the bend, rendering them useless. Several others are half broken. I believe I can expect to have to replace all of them eventually. There is an additional flaw. Two years ago when I was attaching the clips to the shade cloth, several of the plastic barbed pins (two per clip) broke while pressing the clips together around the shade cloth. I pressed them together carefully using finger force, not a hammer or pliers. This frailties are unacceptable. With all we know about plastics and UV rays nowadays, shame on Coolaroo for manufacturing such an inferior product. UPDATE August 2020 Nearly all of the rest of the 60 clips now have either partially broken (one half of the cable loop) or completely broken. The "UV stabilized" plastic becomes brittle in the sun.

Perfect for Coolaroo Sunscreens
Others have said you need pliers to squeeze these together so I was prepared for that. I was using 3/8" cable to hang these on my patio and the clips worked perfect and slide without problems. Initially, I tried to clip the shade directly to the wire but realized it was uneven and strands of cloth were blocking the prongs of the clips making it difficult to close, even with pliers. I put the sunshade on my floor and placed the prong side of the clip through the material at even intervals and worked past the strands of cloth easily. I then put the sunscreen, with clips half-attached, against the cable and closed them BY HAND easily. I hope this tip helps as these clips get the job done.

Out 20 there is only 19 in packet
Quality is good. I got white instead of black it's, no problem but got 19 out of 20 that's cheating. Can't return for 1 pieces.

As advertised
Built a half pergola topped with Coolaro shade cloth. Used clips to secure cloth to tensioned airplane wire. Worked perfectly as advertised. Easy to use. However, not designed to be re-opened. So if that is your plan, expect to destroy a few.
