A spray bar that short on the FX series will be jetting water with a good deal of force. I would certainly aim the holes at the back glass of the aquarium, proper hole alignment when aimed at the back glass still provides excellent surface and offers a great deal of extra flow reduction. If l were to try this l would purchase the 42" model and only use "2 legs" . Each of the 2 legs would need to be trimmed 3/4" on all four ends to get the entire assembly down to 27". The installation has possibilities especially with the bar ports aimed to the back glass. If you are willing to try this just remember the product is being customized to a length and configuration other than for which it was designed. Hope this helps! Thanks so much for your interest in our Product 👍! -walt **Q: Does it require glue or is it tight enough after assembling?** A: Good question! All Flow Tamer Spray bars made for any Fluval canister filter(both FX series and 06/07 series) do not require glue as they are "sub-surface" installations. All components "dry fit" snugly together and can be disassembled whenever cleaning is necessary. Other Flow Tamer Spray Bars that employ an "over the rim" installation are factory glued in the appropriate places to facilitate immediate installation upon receiving them, thanks for asking! -walt **Q: How big is the each hole? Thank you.** A: Hello Jey Sohn! Each hole is 3/16" -walt **Q: What size would i need for a 125 gallon** A: Good morning Jack! Good question, with a 125gal you could accommodate the largest size of 54". It depends on your stock and what you want to accomplish. If l were keeping fancy goldfish or Angels/Discus l would go for the longest 54" model in order to optimize "flow dispersement". If you are keeping larger/stronger stock the 42" will work for sure. Alot of folks with a 72" tank go right for the 54" bar and this gives them the option to remove a "leg" and increase flow intensity if they desire. The 32" model was designed with the FX4 in mind to be used in smaller tanks that are 36" in length, however folks running 2 FX6's in a 72" tank will buy 2ea 32" models and run one on each filter. Still yet another option which customers put us onto here at Flow Tamer is to stagger two 42" or 54" bars in an under/over fashion. We hope this info helps you with your decision.
