Decent scope, with minor flaw
I need an otoscope a couple of times a week only. I got sick of carrying around my heavy c1984 Welch Allyn and feeding it batteries. Also, I bought a new W-A otoscope head for it a few years back and it turned out to be incompatible with the original Welch Allyn speculums, as well as the disposables they supply at my institution. I already had acquired a Riester LED ophthalmoscope and have found it quite serviceable for daily use for my purposes as a neuro-otologist. The Riester otoscope fits a standard speculum, is nice and bright, and if the ophthalmoscope is any guide, I won't have to replace the two AA batteries for quite a while. The only flaw I've found is the lens is fairly fragile where it mounts to the single Torx socket head screw. I have no doubt if I were to carry the scope around unprotected, the lens would fracture around the screw. They really should have made the lens mounting point a bit beefier. I will either keep the scope in its box, or 3D print something to protect the otoscope head as it knocks around in my instrument bag.

Fragile battery compartment — cracked under normal use
The otoscope’s head attaches to the handle using a threaded locking mechanism, but the plastic housing is too thin and fragile for this design. After my first battery replacement, the torque required to close the threaded section caused the plastic to deform and crack. Now the device won’t stay closed because the threaded compartment opens on its own. This is not user damage — it’s a structural design issue. The quality of the material is inadequate to support the threading mechanism. It worked initially, but the build quality is unreliable.

Surprisingly poor quality.
I don't think I've ever written a product review, but the poor quality of this one irked me enough to do so. I thought this would work well for rounding on pediatric hospital patients. I carried for rounds (in my front pants pocket) for 7 days when the pivoting clear plastic lens piece cracked and then broke at the site where it pivots on a metal screw. I carried it 3 more days on rounds thinking I could at least use it as an overpriced light source for oral exams. At the end of the 3rd day the plastic threads that connect the handle to the the head stripped out. So it is now completely useless. This product uses plastic for parts that should be metal. Certainly not worth $100+ dollars.

Buena compra
Si es verdad que no he probado mas Otoscopio, pero me lo recomendó un medico amigo mio, y la verdad que tiene una buena iluminación, y sirve de gran ayuda en los resfriados y demas.
