It is light weight, finally a glass pitcher than doesn't break your arm when filled with liquid. I wanted to get rid of the plastic and now I can. Another plus is it's design, in that it is straight up and down and takes less space in the refrigerator. I bought four of them and so far so good, no breakage. UPDATE: March, 2020. I have been using four of these pitchers for almost five years. Finally one broke because it was caught in the dishwasher and I yanked it.
