I want to use it to measure disc golf drives, does this product work well in grass and dirt?

Depends on if you are in the fairway or the rough! Rolls along the grass pretty well. Close enough for Disc Golfers anyway. Enjoy

Will this measure in reverse as well as forward

Forward motion increases the counter and backward motion decreases the counter.

How tall is it? I couldn't find no reference to that?

18 inches closed and 38 inches extended. Note that it is described as reading in feet and rents but actually is feet and inches. Also wheel is small and only good for smooth surfaces
