My Kitchen Scale Just Got a Sidekick and My Baking is Grateful!
My relationship with kitchen scales has been a journey. I started with a basic digital one, which was fine for measuring flour by the cup (converted to grams, because I was trying to be fancy). Then I got into baking, real baking, the kind that requires measuring yeast in amounts smaller than a sneeze. My old scale just laughed at me, displaying a defiant "0g" until I'd dumped in enough yeast to leaven a small car. Clearly, I needed more precision. And maybe a little more capacity for when I decided to make a truly epic batch of cookies. That's when the KitchenAid Dual Platform Digital Kitchen and Food Scale entered my life. I saw the two platforms and immediately thought, "It's a scale with a buddy!" The large platform handles the heavy lifting – flour, sugar, that giant bowl of dough. It's got capacity for days (up to 11 pounds!). But the real star, for my baking needs anyway, is the smaller, precision platform. This thing measures in tiny increments, perfect for those microscopic amounts of yeast, salt, or spices that make all the difference. It's like having a regular scale and a jeweler's scale had a very useful baby. Using them together is where the magic happens. The dual display shows both weights at the same time. I can be measuring flour for the main dough on the big side and simultaneously portioning out a minuscule amount of fancy sea salt for a topping on the small side. I feel like a mad scientist in a culinary lab, meticulously weighing out ingredients with pinpoint accuracy. My cat is probably wondering why I'm suddenly so focused on small piles of white powder. The tare function works flawlessly on both platforms, which is essential for adding multiple ingredients to the same bowl without doing complicated math (my brain is not a calculator, especially before tea). The scale itself is sleek and doesn't take up too much counter space, which is a minor miracle in my crowded kitchen. If you're tired of your scale ignoring tiny, crucial ingredients, if you need capacity for larger batches but precision for delicate measurements, and you enjoy the feeling of having a highly capable kitchen sidekick, this dual platform scale is fantastic. It's well-made, incredibly accurate, and has made my baking (and general cooking) much more consistent and less prone to accidental ingredient avalanches. My baked goods are happier, and so is my sanity. I'm thoroughly impressed with this two-in-one wonder.

Worth the Wait and an Excellent Upgrade
I had this scale sitting in my Amazon Wishlist for years before finally purchasing it after moving into my new home. When it went on sale, I decided it was time to upgrade, and I'm so glad I did. I've owned several kitchen scales over the years, but this is easily my favorite. The dual-platform design is what sold me. I can weigh larger ingredients on the main platform while using the smaller precision scale for spices, baking ingredients, or anything that requires more accuracy. Having both scales in one unit saves space and is much more convenient than owning two separate devices. The display is bright and easy to read, the stainless-steel surface wipes clean quickly, and the scale feels sturdy and well made. I also appreciate the tare function, which makes measuring ingredients in bowls quick and simple. I've used it for everything from portioning snacks to measuring baking ingredients, and it's been consistently accurate and easy to use. If you've been debating this scale like I did, I'd say it's absolutely worth it. The quality, versatility, and convenience make it an excellent addition to any kitchen.

Very hardy
I ordered this one because I thought I killed my last one while making sourdough bread. This scale is my husband's pride and joy and one of the only things in the kitchen that he claims as his for making pizza. Imagine my panic when the scale stopped working. I dropped water on it and didn't realize how much went into the scale. I kept the scale in the cabinet while crossing my fingers that this one arrived before my husband got the urge to start the pizza dough process again. Thankfully, it did. Expect the other scale started working again after fully drying out, I guess on the inside. I have decided to keep this scale as an emergency backup in case I do indeed actually fully kill the scale in the future.

Barely decent until it stops working after a few cleaning sprays
When I got this kitchen scale 3 years ago, it seem "decent" to weight food. The main platform seemed to have accuracy issues where the food fluctuated between 5-8 grams of a 500 grams item ( bowl + food). You could test this by just raising the bowl and putting it back on the scale and it will have 5-8 grams of error each time. This issue was only compensated by the smaller scale platform accuracy which was overall better. Only issue with the smaller scale platform is seems to have a weight limit ~700g, plus space is definitely narrower for a big bowl. Also there is the power off issue where it would not power off if it not stable on the counter, which is a dumb idea because that prevented me to power off the device while it was on my hand. Also this would become an issue later when it stop working and can't be power off unless the batteries are take out. And then there is the batteries. Who designs an electronic device that takes 3 batteries?! It should always be in pairs (2, 4, 6, 8 ...) because most rechargeable batteries charges will only charge them in pairs. I know this is probably a small issue but this annoyed me every time I needed to recharge my lithium batteries. Now the main issue after 3 years of usage: it is nowhere water resistant. There were a few times where I needed to clean it by spraying multi purpose cleaner (small spray quantity as I know is not water proof) due to spilling a few drops of raw meat water while weighting. Now it says always UNSE/ERR on the display which it wasn't unstable because it was stable on my counter top. I could also see that inside the display there is water and humidity which indicates that water has entered through the display cavity. While I know it says is no water proof, I would definitely think that it should resist more than a few cleaning sprays because at the end of the day you might be weighing raw food. Definitely this scale is not worth its price.

Looks Good. Works Good. I Love It!
This digital kitchen scale is stylish, light weight and seems to get all the measurements right! I'm happy with the battery life and ease of use. Cleaning is easy enough, since i'm not all that sure how much easier it could be. It's best to try not and get it dirty in the first place but that goes with just about anything.

Impressive. But one little thing…
Advertisement indicates it measures to 0.01g but there is no mention of accuracy. I tried measuring something to see what .01 g looks like. I tried rice hulls. It couldn’t do it. It jumped to .05g then to zero. I could not get it to measure .01g or .02g of them. I have a single beam scale with gram counter weights. It measured 1.0g as 1.00g. 10g measured at 10.01g, 20g at 20.04g and 50 g at 50.11g. I measured 10 ml in a graduated cylinder that size. Water weights 1 g per ml. It weighed 10.33g. I would not expect to get any closer. The scale seems to be accurate to within 1/4% of total weight, which is pretty impressive. Extraordinary resolution for a non-lab instrument. I applaud Kitchen Aid for including batteries with a tab to remove to make battery contact. The tare feature is executed flawlessly and last used scale comes back in the default g vs ounce. One star deducted for leading a person to believe they are measuring to within a 0.01g resolution and there is no statement of resolution accuracy. Still impressive and worth it.

A great scale
I have been using this scale gor a few days now. So far everything is as expected. Very accurate. I use bulk coffee and green tea, works great. I also use the scale to make bread. Especially for bulk yeast for regular bread and for sour dough. This is very nice scale.

Easy to read, good range of measurements
Replaced a less capable scale. Bright LED display (white on black). Automatically zeros on power on. Shuts off if not used in about 30 seconds. Tare will zero in a couple seconds. Two scales (large for heavier, more course measurements, small for exact weight). Weight in pounds, ounces and grams. Large surface area for bowls and containers. Small surface for fine measurements. What I like best are the large numbers, so easy to read, and the automatic off which saves the batteries. After weighing the bowl and pressing "Tare" I can put 6 cups of flour in a steel bowl, and weigh it accurately. For the price, this is excellent for my kitchen. We make 18 dozen cookies each week for church. This helps make excellent cookies. My cookies are each weighed so they all cook at the same rate. I make each about 32 grams so a batch of 3 dozen yields about 45 cookies.

The smaller scale is not accurate
The smaller scale is not accurate, very disappointed. The reading often keeps changing for no reason, so it cannot be relied on. Shame. Edit: It suddenly died well before reaching its second year... Nothing could be done to revive it.
