Excellent
Another great story by Margolin. Terrific characters, fast moving plot with numerous twists and turns. Good explanation of some difficult legal theory. All in all one of his best

Fast Paced Legal Thriller
Phillip Margolin has created in David Nash a character that is both likable and admirable. He is a talented defense attorney who is beginning to have second thoughts about all the clients he has successfully represented who are probably guilty. Now he has a client that he believes is innocent. The situation is complicated by the attraction that develops between Nash and the client's wife. As time goes on evidence develops that suggest that the client might indeed be guilty. There are also the ethical considerations about the situation in which he now finds himself. The story develops with many plot twists and surprises and keeps the reader's interest all the way through to the exciting conclusion.

Unable to put down
I would recommend this book to everyone who enjoys a roller coaster ride between the covers of a book. This book is extremely well written. Because I knew the characters so well some of them could be my next door neighbors. Once you've read this book you will know that's somewhat a scary thought. My favorite part of the book was the ending. I will not even try to explain why. I've been an avid reader for over 30 years and this ending ranks number 1!!!!!!!! Thank you for allowing me to express how exciting and intriguing this book is. I urge ever-body to read The Last Innocent Man!!!!

More twists and turns than a NASCAR race. Couldn't lay it down!
Just when you think book is predictable you are proven wrong. A real page turner. Involves multiple scenarios with an unpredictable cast of characters.

Brialliant Plot Strategist
"The Last Innocent Man", by Phillip Margolin, is a masterpiece of literary genius in plotting. Upon reading the first few chapters that told isolated stories about individual characters, I was beginning to wonder when the plot would kick in and the story would come together. Once it all merged into a courtroom drama, for me, there was no putting the book down until I finished reading it.I have enjoyed reading some wonderful writers over the years, but Margolin is one of the best I've read in a long time. His twisted plots will keep you turning pages.

excellent, if superficial, thriller
I get the sense that there is a classic inside this author. This is the second book I've read by Phillip Margolin, and I found the same strengths and weaknesses in both. Margolin is a fine writer, and his pacing and characterizations are first-rate. In both this novel and "Gone, But Not Forgotten" he begins with a confusing melee of scenarios and people which only gradually cohere, but this gives the reader an immediate sense of vertiginous excitement. What is less forgivable is the lack of any real depth to otherwise vibrant characters. We get plenty of history but never any motive or exploration of people's thinking. Granted, this is not a psychological thriller, but no one ever even wonders why any of these people do what they do, let alone try to explain it. There is some hint of the seductive thrall of evil and a sentence or two about wanting to make sure no innocent man is convicted, but they fall short.Advertising for this book is sloppy, emphasizing the protagonist David Nash's 'Ice Man' reputation, even though that aspect of his persona is never referred to after the introductory pages. Advertising also attests to Nash's unswerving belief in his new client's innocence, but that isn't really the case in the book. The marketers didn't even read the book.I would read a Margolin novel any day. They are exciting and fun -- excellent page-turning thrillers. But I am waiting for something more, and I hope he has it in him.

Twist and turns
The novel was an easy read and made you think that the character playing the defendant was responsible for the crime. You think that everyone's actions are appropriate because you think he's responsible for the crime. Then, riviting events drawing you to a different suspect of the crime is unfolded. The twist and turns are expertly written by Margolin. It's a great story which you'll enjoy.

Excellent
This is only the second novel I've read by Phillip Margolin.Phillip Margolin is a retired lawyer and he's been a full time writer since 1996.I quickly got caught up in the story of David Nash, a defence attorney who has made a career of letting allsorts of horrific people go free. This case could redeem Nash for everything he's done in the past as he sets out to help another lawyer who has been falsely accursed of a murder he didn't commit.I don't want to say too much about the story as I really don't want to spoil it for you. This author grabs you right from the start, and it's a novel I found hard to put down. I found the story kept my interest and it certainly wasn't boring. He's an excellent author who knows what his readers want. I'm about to start another of his novels which I'm looking forward to. :-)

The last innocent man ..... and also my last Phillip Margolin
Poorly written and totally unbelievable story. The attorney meets a women by accident on a terrace and woops she is already in his bed and then they love each other very much. But surprise, she has a husband and he is accused of murder and (you wont believe it) the attorney happens to be his lawyer. The husband is however really innocent, and the real murderer is another client of the same lawyer, previously acquitted (but in fact guilty) in another murder case ... HELP!!!

Another page turner by Mr. Margolin.
Loved it. Loved it so much that I read it twice. I've always been a big fan of Mr. Margolin and this was another outstanding book by this author. The idea of defending a person who is innocent after defending the guilty for such a long time must be a wonderful thing but the story does not call for that emotion right away. There are lot's of mixed emotions involved so it is wise to read it carefully.
