Review: Great add on to scout pro 3 - If you have any of the Klein scout range with the toning function, this is a must have. The probe is powered by a 9v battery and is secured in a screwed compartment on the back. There is a quite powerful light on the front of it that is ultra handy when searching for cables in the back of patch panels. This can be turned on independently from the toning function. The volume level is controlled by two buttons and the highest levels is quite high and also can have a pair of headphones attached using a 3.5mm jack. The outer casing is very rugged and durable and does look like it will withstand a lot of use in all different kinds of environments. Overall, a very handy and well priced probe to pair with the Klein scout range.

A: yes but not if its carrying any voltage,must be disconnected from fuse board

A: Yes, as long as the cable isn’t energised

A: I’ve tried it on 300meter and it works

**Q: Just wondering, does anyone know how well this compares to greenlee 701k-g tone and probe kit?**
A: This is one of the best I've used. Had a fluke and a couple of amazon specials, but this is definitely the most rugged and has a longer tip to get into harder to reach places.plus the torch on the probe is very handy!

This is great for working with AV and Network cabling. We have recently moved into a heavily modernised 1960s house that has a lot of solid (rather than partition) walls and the previous owner had use a lot of cat 5 cabling for both data and Audi visual (HDMI over cat 5 distribution etc). Its says its designed to be used with a specific tone generator, but worked fine with an extent generator I already had that had a rubbish probe. The features on this are great allowing an analogue headphone to be used and also with a light tip which came in use several times. Its pretty straightforward to use and in fairness, you won't use this often at all, but Shen you do need it, it is invaluable.
