Highly recommend!
This Fiskars 28" Chopping Axe is an outstanding tool! The ultra-sharp blade makes quick and effortless work of kindling and smaller logs – it truly slices through wood with ease. I'm especially impressed with how well-balanced it feels, making each swing efficient and less tiring. It's the perfect size and weight (3.5 pounds) for general garden and outdoor tasks. A must-have for anyone needing a reliable and effective chopping axe!

I also have the Fiskars X25 splitting axe and while I've read that the longer handle is best for taller folks I gotta say that the X25 feels more less comfortable and like it would be easier to short swing. Of the two I prefer the longer handle and I am 5'10". I love both of my Fiskers axes. Just bought the X7 hatchet and it is excellent as well. Updated: I've now been using the X27 for almost 5 years. Like some other guys under 6' 3", I prefer using the longer handled X27 to the X25 - I get more leverage and I think that it is safer - I stand farther away from the round so a miss or glancing blow will not go into my foot or leg but into the ground (that said I still wear steel toed boots when splitting wood). This axe has just been a solid performer for me for splitting wood. Maintenance is easy - a good file works fine an is pretty quick, the edge stays sharp a good while. The handle provides a very good griping surface even when wet. This axe design and materials have given me a far better ratio of swings to splits than axes I have used in the past decades. About a year ago I added the Fiskars 8 lb 36" handle maul to my inventory and am very glad that I did. Yeah it isn't cheap - but what really excellent tool is - you get what you pay for when it comes to tools - doesn't take many handle replacements to make up the price difference. Yes, the X27 axe is great on a lot of wood rounds but come on, use the proper tool for the proper use and you'll find it worthwhile. Bottom line is that I go with Fiskars and not just because I am an Alaskan Finn. Finns won't abide shoddy tools. I hope that Fiskars keep a close eye on quality assurance and control and maintain the high quality of their tools .

Amazing chopping!
I had my doubts but this thing is rad. Sharp and the ergonomics are great. Its wildly light but the speed makes up for it. Not gonna lie I have struck the handle more times than I want to admit and its strong. Vibrational transmission is low. I would choose this if there were a zombie apocalypse. This is my first Fiskars item beyond scissors.

Effective, Quality and light
Excellent if you want to minimize weight and still have an effective axe. More than pleased. It’s not the one I’ll use at home (heavy has it’s place) …. But my home axe is too heavy for my backpack.

Fantastic axe
Fantastic chopping axe! Very sharp, making felling of trees simple and quick. The handle keeps the felt impact to a minimum which totally helps lower fatigue. The ergonomics of the handle helps maintain a good grip as well. This my first Fiskars axe, definitely won't be my last.

Quality axe
Anyone who’s ever bought a Fisker product knows you’re getting great quality at a fair price. This axe is no different. It’s lightweight, well balanced and easy to use. I have used it on everything from felling small trees to trimming off small branches to turn logs into firewood.

Great product, great price
Cuts like butter, careful not to lose the cover, it gets dull and chipped easily without the cover. Works well, weight is as expected, size is as expected. Best price I could find. Would recommend

FANTASTIC in Africa rather buy 36 inch 8lbs Maul 1st!
Fantastic design, execution and price, a truly honourable product worthy of reverence. That said, South Africans should rather start with the 8 pound 36 inch Maul. Our wood — such as White Stinkwood — is not as the balsar wood, in countless You Tube vids shot in North America and Canada. BE WARNED!
