Great hunting/ starter hinge release!
If you’re looking into trying a hinge release or using one for hunting this is a good one to use. It doesn’t have alot of fancy features but has everything you need in a good release. It’s well made and has a smooth action. The strap is great for hunting so you don’t loose it and if you’ve never used a hinge before it could keep you from firing a release through your bow.if you are using it for hunting you will need to take steps to silence the release.

Well thought out, easy to use. Great bargain.

Very loud, but also just not my style.
I generally use a thumb release and was told that this would be a nice upgrade from that. I understand that they use different mechanics to release but I just wasn't fond of how this one worked. Maybe its hinge releases in general but I just didn't like having to move that many muscles to release. On top of that though, this sucker was LOUD. Like every release you could hear a loud POP. Maybe something was faulty on my release, I don't know, but there is no way a dear WOULDN'T hear that. Even the click indicating that it was ready was loud. Overall, this just wasn't for me and so I returned it and went back to my trusty thumb release.

... day using this release and I can't say enough good things about it
It's only been my second day using this release and I can't say enough good things about it. I've been unfortunate to have been bitten by the TARGET PANIC bug and was getting frustrated and depressed at the same time.Based on various suggestions, I took a chance and ordered the Scott Longhorn Hunter. I already had the Scott Longhorn Hex, but found it way too easy to continue punching the trigger. Unlike the Hex, I believe this release is a true back tension release and is a lot harder to punch the trigger. I think it's possible to punch any release, trust me, my target panic was that bad :-( However, this release definitely made it little harder to do.I recommend adjusting the sensitivity to make it harder to trigger at first, at least until you get familiar with the release and when it fires for you. I found that as long as I keep more pressure on the thumb safety during the draw, its virtually impossible to trigger the release during the draw cycle.I'm still using the click to until I get more familiar with this release, but I do intend to flip the moon over so that I won't hear a click prior to firing. Already did this to my Hex release. BTW, this release already made me shoot the Hex a whole lot better too, as I'm able to replicate the pull now that I've gotten practice using a true BT release. The whole release including the buckle strap is top notch and worth every penny IMO. If I lost this release, I would buy it again and would definitely recommend you give this a try if you're trying to over-come TP too.

Great product but too advanced and not universal enough for me.
I've been going back and forth on this back tension release and a thumb release. I have one 40" conquest for target shooting and one SDX for hunting. I bought the 12 year old Conquest at a great price and on a budget.I have really improved my groups to the point I have ruined three arrows and had a Robin Hood. However, I should have bought one that I could utilize for both target shooting and hunting The only reason is there is no safety. Once I draw and hear the click go, the chance of decompressing and not sending my arrow is pretty slim. I'm still working on my tradecraft as a hunter and can't seem to time exactly when to draw. So I end up holding at full draw too long and sometimes, the deer walk off and I can't take a shot.I'm not that great of a hunter or that great at target shooting, so this is probably a bit too advance for me. There have been moments I have had to relax my draw and not fire. Although I am sure it could be done with the Lomghorn, it isn't that easy for me.I give it 5 stars because it really has made me a better shot. The fit, function, and quality is worth the price. I'm still figuring my technique and gear out, so I should have purchased a release that I could leave on the D loop and been able to back down from full draw.

Works well
Works very well, I tried it for a little while but wasn’t quite sure I liked the hinge style release enough to fully commit to it so I sent it back before the return window ended. The release was made well and felt comfortable in my hand. If wanting to try a hinge this is a solid option

Tension Release
It's a great product and they let me return it since my husband doesn't use a tension release just wish they would have said in the post somewhere that it is a tension release
