The one I received today is identical in terms of construction to the one I purchased ten plus years ago. It makes popcorn that tastes better than the stale movie theater popcorn. It’s easy to use. You add the popcorn kernels, flavorcol and olive oil. Spin with the handle a couple turns to mix it. Then wait for it to start popping then spin some more till the popping slows down or you feel resistance from spinning. It makes great tasting popcorn. While everything else is worse quality, it’s great to know I can depend on this company to still make quality products. Here’s a picture comparing my old and new Whirley pop.

**Q: Does this really have nylon gears?**
A: The Whirley-Pop comes with the lid with nylon gears, but you can purchase a lid with metal gears. Ii did, after the original one wore out.

**Q: Do you have to use oil**
A: Yes, oil is necessary to efficiently pop the corn without burning. Here's a trick I use: substitute half of the oil with regular or spreadable butter. You'll get the buttery flavor without the greasy, soggy mess (I SO hate that!)

**Q: Is it stainless steel or aluminum?**
A: Aluminum with nylon gears. A stainless steel popper is available but it is more expensive.

**Q: Can this be used on an induction stove?**
A: I don’t see why not. Might take a few batches to find the right temp. I’d start with medium low.

This pot is amazing. Super easy to use and it you follow a simple ratio of kernels to oil you’ll never have left over I popped kernels. This is a great value for you money and never accept anything less than the best whirlly pop is the best. Cleans up very nicely. The size is perfect for 3 people servings easy. 1 for me. I low. Popcorn amazing materials and craftsmanship and looks amazing.
