This pearl izumi hoodie...
I am not loving this hoodie. I have a lot of PI gear for running and like it a lot, but this one, not at all. I got the cold air coming in from the neck, because it is wider and longer that any other I have, so my shoulders and back started to get cold during my run, never happened to me with any of my other tops, and to be honest, the difference in the two fabric material of this sweatshirt gives it a weird feeling, it is stiff in the front and soft in other areas. I wish I didn't spend the $$ in this one, because I wont be able to use it much, it is too thick to wear if it is more than 40F and I would be cold in 30F temperatures.

A must have for winter runners!!
I love this jacket!! I purchased the pink/black to match my Lunarglides and I look so stylish in it while running that I get compliments from people on the street. I have ran in 23 degree weather and was quite warm..I'm pretty sure with proper layers it can work in ten degree weather as well.

How did it all go so wrong?
There's some intelligent, cycling specific design in this (wind block panels are only at the front, arm articulation/sleeve cuffs, pony tail hole on the back of the hood) but its basic functions are poorly done. The back pocket is probably the biggest comedy since Bridesmaids. Like is Pearl Izumi on some sexism s***? Like am I supposed to put some lipstick and foundation in here? It doesn't fit anything. Even a pass-through slot would've been better. And it's not that big of a deal for me because I've 1. got a jersey on underneath, and 2. have no hips [ =( ]so there's some space between the hoodie and my jersey to load up my jersey's back pockets. If you got some babymakers though good luck because it's gonna be a tight fit. The front pocket is one big pass through like a conventional pullover. Can't go wrong with that, right? Well they didn't stitch the pocket to the front panel externally so they were minimizing seams on the outside I guess...but they didn't stitch it down internally either. So every time you put it on you have to make sure you have your hand on this flappy piece of fabric so you don't pull on it and rip it or it doesn't get caught on something. Same with the back "pocket." I want to say this hoodie is probably better for running but I doubt that? The front wind blocking panel works pretty well so if you were to use it running you'd probably over-heat pretty quickly. Personally I would've liked a full zip more but that's just preference and isn't one of my problems with it. Assuming you're using it in the right conditions a quarter zip is plenty of venting. Personally I don't like Pearl Izumi because of their fabric choices and corny color schemes, but they always seem to design their stuff well and since I bought it all black I thought I was spending my $100 wisely. But they had different plans for me.

Super warm for high paced walking in 40 degrees.
Super warm for high paced walking in 40 degrees. I wear the fleece of medium thickness underneath.Very wind proof. The hood keeps you extra warm. Colour is beautiful. Washes well with a free and clear product. I useEccos from Costco. Hang to dry and dries over nite or faster depending on temps in house.Generous sleve length and fits well with wind gloves. Length of zipper on chest is perfect to let in cool air/let out heat.I am small on top and on the lean side. This top is a slimmer fit than most but that is how I wear my active gear. I have a 4"shoulder width and the small is perfect for me zipped. If you have broad shoulders I advise to size up. Love the rear pocket too.

toasty - updated
i was concerned that this garment might be too small (usually wear size 6) but it fits ok. at first it felt a little tight across the chest due to the differing amount of flex in the textiles used. the windblock material has a significantly different stretch (or lack thereof) than the remaining fabric. all-in-all this garment is functional; warm, wind-blocking, water-resistant. has nice details like the pony tail port, rear pocket, front kangaroo pocket, thumb holes and little pockets for hand warmers.i've had this item for a couple of years now and it's worn very well and is still 100% functional. it's so good that i just ordered another one.

Very stylish and warm
I am very pleased with this top. I hope to wear it skiing, playing golf and watching rugby. It is very warm and comfortable. One thing though ---- it is small fitting. I am a standard size 12 and had to buy the large.

Love this jacket!
Absolutely love this jacket for running on cold days. Fits as expected. High neck and fitted hood offer extra protection from the cold. Also resists water to a point. Center pocket is large enough for a phone and car keys.
