Donner EQ Pedal, 10 Band Equalizer Pedal, EQ Seeker for Guitar and Bass True Bypass

Recently got this as a backup delay (main unit is TCE Flashback). Have now given it a workout on bass (Spector Spectorcore) and solid body (Schecter C1+) through a Mesa Boogie Subway. It's part of a new "twin" series with dual-effects options; a bit more flexible than the typical mini-pedal; also a bit bigger (see attached picture comparing form factor to a mini-pedal and a standard MXR enclosure) but still pretty pedal-board friendly. Overall I am impressed with this unit, especially at a ~$60 new price point.Pros:- price, price, and lastly: price- Nicely packaged; would make a good gift for a guitarist- Solid construction. It has the mini-knobs with fat rubber rings that some companies now use now on mini-and multi-effects units. I'm dubious about these; the shaft seems less solid than I'd like. I don't know how durable they are, but I'm gonna try not to stomp on them. With this *possible* exception, the build quality and components look good. I haven't opened it up to examine the PCB and components.- It's digital, but the "Analogue" (analog) voicing is pretty good. I didn't detect much low end loss when I tried it with my bass. It does color your sound a bit, but not in an unpleasant way. The digital voicing is okay too, but I prefer the analog. Matter of taste. It's got reverse too, which is kind of fun to play with, though I'm not sure I'd ever use it. It works as you'd expect.- Controls are straightforward and easy to use. Tap tempo works as expected; you can then adjust the delay knob to override the tap tempo. I'm not sure what the range is and it doesn't say anywhere on the small instruction sheet.- Quiet: I didn't detect any added noise when the pedal was on. True bypass seems to work properly.- Possible pro: the unusual shape would allow some users to fit it on the edge of a pedalboard; a standard size pedal would nestle easily between the in/out jacks. So even though it's bigger than a mini-pedal, this form could be the right "puzzle piece" for some crowded boards.CONS:- Minor: the wording on the pedal is a really small font, and not as high contrast as it could be. The knobs have white markings to show the set point, but the controls could be labeled more visibly - would be impossible to read on a dark stage (of course that's true of many pedals).- Like most smaller pedals, it doesn't take a 9v battery - only a standard 9v plug. Not an issue for me or, I'd guess, almost anyone.- If you click it on while you're playing through it and adjusting delay, you can this digital sweep sound for a second. That is a minor issue, and avoided by having it set before you click on, or setting it before stomping.That's it. As you can see, no substantial complaints. Without question a worthy pedal at its price.

I'm taking off 1 star (only half a star, if i could)...only because I wish they would have had the very top of the sliders colored white, or another bright color. That, would make it much easier to see the position of the EQ sliders. I may paint them white at the top, myself...not sure yet.As for the EQ pedal itself, it is excellent! It REALLY made my amp, sound SO much better; like day & night. I'm very happy with my tone now...& it also has much more "punch". I have it ON at all times, because of how much better my amp sounds now. I now consider my equalizer to be the most important pedal I own.It's well built; the sliders & on/off footswitch have a high quality feel to them. The footswitch is very smooth...it barely makes a sound when using it.I'm very impressed with Donner pedals. I also have their "Echo Square" delay pedal. It's excellent! I'm also impressed with the fact, that they are VERY quiet. I don't hear any hiss, etc. Quality pedals at a "cost saver" price! I plan to purchase another pedal from Donner this month; the "Mod Square 2". It has 2 Phase Shifter modes (my main reason for buying it), plus Chorus, Flanger, Wah, etc. I'm really looking forward to having that in my signal chain as well.I highly recommend Donner, & I wish I knew about them much sooner.EDIT: I added rubber caps, the Inknote brand. It has made a world of difference in how well I can see the sliders now. I believe I used the 4.5mm size...& cut some of the extra off...& SUCCESS! They were very easy to put on.
