Why do I get a black screen when I plug it in?

The console has to be set first. Open System Configuration, choose Component Video Out and select Y Cb/Pb Cr/Pr. This adapter converts YPbPr signals only, so a console left on RGB or CVBS shows a black screen or an out of range message.

Which console models does it fit?

It is made for original PS2 consoles in the 10000, 30000, 50000 and 70000 series. It is not for PS1, not for the PS2 Slim or the PS2 90000 series, and not for PS3 or PS4.

Will it work on my 4K television?

Only if that set accepts the console display modes over HDMI. The adapter carries NTSC 480i and 480p and PAL 576i through unchanged, so a screen that only supports 720p or 1080p will not work correctly.

Can I send the sound to headphones or separate speakers?

Yes. The adapter carries a 3.5mm audio interface next to the HDMI output, so the sound can go to headphones or to a pair of powered speakers instead of the television or monitor speakers.

Does it need a separate power supply?

It runs on 5V at 1A taken over its USB power port, and a USB cable is supplied in the box. The 5V USB plug itself is not included, so use any phone charger that carries that rating.
