I can’t for the life of me understand how anyone could call this noisy. Mine are whispering quite. Only thing I can think of is if they bought a used refurbished one.I bought this from (Daytona Web) very well packaged and wrapped in anti static cellophane and absolutely new. A rock solid dealer. As for the drive? I love it!

The drive is fast and quiet. 8tb is huge.

The drive was defective on day one. The drive clicked when searching for data and when I booted. I record music and play keyboards and several of the VST plug-ins that utilize data streaming to make sounds would stutter when their sound library was coming from this drive. I did not know what was going on till about 6 months later when I took a chance and moved the libraries to a different drive and the stuttering went away. I just have to figure out how to RMA this drive now.

Do not use this hard drive for Fast reaction times, Apps like Video editing and Music production are not going to benefit from this drive, You need an NVMe super fast solid state drive for that. This drive would be used for Servers, slower stuff. I also would not use for gaming.

We ordered 2 separate batches of these drives from Aventis in March, one order for 5 and another for 13. After 2 weeks, the order for 13 drives had not been shipped (but for some reason we had been billed) so I got a refund from Amazon, canceled the order, and ordered elsewhere. Now, Aventis keep sending us letters asking we return the items or pay for them, and are providing proof of delivery from Fedex for the shipment of 5 drives (which we got), but the other order for 13 drives had a UPS tracking number, which when I look it up, has no record of the shipment whatsoever.

I have used HGST HDDs on my QNAP NAS for many years, and I'll only choose the Toshiba HDDs after HGST drives. I'm new to these Toshiba 8TB SATA Enterprise NAS HDD MG Series drives, and after a good investigation of other Users' reviewing these drives. I thought to give them a try on my QNAP NAS, and they are very well performing drives. I did not find that they are noisy drives compared to my HGST HDDs, but they do run a couple of degrees hotter than my HGST drives when operating. For Enterprise level drives, their price is fair compared to what I paid for my HGST drives with the same capacity. Overall they are fantastic money for value drives compared to the other competitions out there for NAS drives. Excellent quality drives for many years to come!
