The plate (that sits flush on the wall) is roughly 10 inches tall by 17 inches wide. It has plenty of holes to account for oddly spaced wall studs. You can’t go wrong with this. Worth the money

Why does it say "TV cannot be mounted above a fireplace"?

Thanks for your interests and contacting us regarding MOUNTUP full motion TV wall mount. We understand and are glad to offer help.

On the consideration of safety, please be kindly note that all of our MOUNTUP TV mounts are not allowed to install onto drywall alone or mental/ steel studs, for we are not sure whether it could strong enough to hold the TV and the mount.

For your TV's safety, we highly recommend to find concrete wall or wood stud for safe installation. Or search if there's wall mounts available for metal studs’ installation. Your kind understanding will be highly appreciated!

Though many still prefer and consider mounting above the fireplace, we have included the disclaimer due to the uncontrollable heat rising above the fireplaces which may affect the TV/other devices/cables.
