Inspired Basics Cast Iron Cleaner ..... It Works!
A great item produced by Inspired Basics. I've used this cast iron cleaner for a couple of weeks now on three different types of iron skillet and love it. We have a standard round flat bottom skillet, a square dutch with raised ribs and a large spider. With all three this chain mail type cleaner works wonders. From cooking Cornbread to, Oven Broiled Steaks and Pot Roast, after letting the pan cool down, wiping out the excess oils, I then put some fresh oil and heat it in the skillet. While still hot, using a set of tongues I scrubbed the pans. On the ribbed bottom I have a set of Grilling Gloves I use to hold the cleaner, and scrub between the ribs. This has worked great for me, and made the job easier than trying to use some of the other scour pad type cleaners, and the chain mail design cleans with less effort. In a regular skillet you can just swirl the cleaner around in the pan and let centrifugal force work for you. Easy to use and clean up of the cleaner is very easy in a dish washer or using hot soap and water. A great product at an affordable price. Thanks Inspire Basics.

Works well
I tried this as part of a discount to be reviewed. I normally use a brush for light cleaning, and scotch pad to heavily scrub my cast iron and that has worked ok. The problem is that the rough coating of the pan tears up the pad fairly soon. In terms of cleaning power, the cast iron cleaner seems equal to the pad.My experience I have had it for a little over a week and use 3 times.Once after hard grilling some meatOnce after making a german pancakeand once after making bacon.Pros:I like the durability of it. I should not need to replace scotch pads.Felt good to use in my hand.Easy to cleanSeller seems intent on customer service with good followup email after purchase. The current 14.97 price seems fairWorks well on stainless steel pans.ConsDid not outperform scotch pad as I had hoped.I do not have long term experience to share. I will update if needed down the road on durability.

Repaired my mistake and decades of debris
I have had some of my cast iron skillets for over a decade, but never knew that such a thing as this cleaner existed until I stumbled upon it recently on Amazon. Decades of ownership does not equate to actual skill or knowledge of what I'm doing with cast iron. I bought one figuring I would find need of it some day. That day came recently when I got distracted when using the skillet while using a plastic spatula and left it in the skillet while I tended to some pressing "emergency". Upon returning I found that the heat of the skillet had melted the plastic and left a nice puddle. The cleaner mesh made quick work of cleaning up this as well as several other bits of what must have been years old build up of carbonized bits.Pros:• Works a charm on even decades old buildup• Easily cleaned with a bit of dish detergent in your hand• Good quality, no snags or defects• Company followed up with me after the saleCons:• None so far

I wish I had it earlier
What a nice little tool! I have a whole bunch of cast iron cookware. In the past I used to buy those small abrasive wire-buns which would wear out really fast. Their worst part was metallic splinters that they would leave in your skin from time to time. I tried green abrasive cloths as well, but they would become useless after one or two times of heavy use on a cast iron skillet. This new stainless steel cleaner does the job really well. I like its size; it fits one's hand just right. I wouldn't want either bigger or smaller one. You might want to wash it with extra soup after cleaning your cookware, if it has extra grease on it. Today I cleaned a steel wok with it after sautéing a thick mix of shrimp and mayo, and a baking sheet on which I baked asparagus with cheese (and had a bunch of sticky remains). I absolutely loved the results! The thing seems to work on steel surfaces even more gently than all other abrasives. Highly recommend.

Never would have guessed how well it works
I thought this was a strange tool when I first saw it and was pretty skeptical. Well, I would have never guessed how well this works on our cast iron skillets, but it does! Gets the chunks out and does not ruin the seasoning on the skillet. sometimes, we may have to inspect once or twice and do another round of scrubbing, but it get the skillet clean. We do not use soap in the skillet. it will get greasy sometimes so we do use soap on cleaner, or put it in the dish washer, but then it is easy to put back in the plastic bag it came in and store in the gadget drawer.

Best cleaning method for cast iron
Amazing! How did I use cast iron for decades without knowing about this? The Inspired Basics Cast Iron Cleaner arrived yesterday evening and I immediately used it to wash my favorite sixty year old cast iron frying pan. Smooth! Clean! I heated the pan back up, lightly oiled it, cooled it, and we are ready for the next use. The chain mail, I cleaned with dish soap, rubbed it between my hands, rinsed it off and set it on the side of the sink to drain dry. One thing: extra large is an exaggeration. It is barely large enough to keep you from scraping your fingers as you scrub.

Another winner!
I really like it. Got it today for my cast iron, used it already and I think it did exactly as promised. I can see that scrubbing too hard WILL remove the seasoning. I went in circles and not 'scrubbing' back and forth. I use a bamboo or plastic scrapper for that. As long as it doesn't rust, and I can't see why it should, I think it is much better than other steel wool or similar 'cast iron' products. I have an 'incredibly' stiff natural bristled brush for cast iron, and this beats it for ease. Plus, the gunk doesn't have to be cleaned out of any bristles. Would I recommend this to 'my mother', sure!

Inspired Basics Cast Iron Cleaner
I'll be honest ... I was a bit apprehensive when I purchased this at first. However, since then ... we've used this Inspired Basics Cast Iron Cleaner over and over and it works like a charm! Not sure what people are doing when they say this ruins their cast iron. I've read one or two reviews that claimed such. I think they don't condition or know how to take care of their cast iron. We've had no problems at all! Plain and simple, this works period! Also works great on our grills after smoking meats too!
