Guinea pigs love the new hay!
I have had pet guinea pigs for over two decades. They have always eaten a high quality 3rd cut Timothy Hay from a family owned farm. While I was waiting on a hay delivery, I was running low and ordered a small amount of the soft Timothy Hay from Rabbit Hole to tide us over.I assumed my picky eaters would not touch the new hay, so I made sure to put a pile of the old hay alongside the pile of new hay so they would not go without. It did not take me long to realize they were not eating or playing in the old hay. The shape of the old hay pile did not change, while the new pile shrank throughout the day. They weren't even playing (burying themselves-their favorite activity) in the old hay. Well, I guess they made their choice. Went ahead and ordered 20 lbs. of this hay and the pigs are thrilled and plow through it like lawnmowers. It's green, soft, and is fresh. I have only ordered from Rabbit Hole a few times. If the quality is consistent, they will be my new permanent hay supplier.

Our bun only eats this hay and no other
Freshness is inconsistent from order to order, but our bun is super picky as far as hay is concerned and this is the one he eats everyday.

The search is over!!
The media could not be loaded. Perfect for my fussy bunnies. Very tender; not overly broken or dusty. I do wish it wasn't so expensive, but it's worth it to see the bunnos eating so much and so well.

This hay is called “soft” but it’s not soft at all
This is described as premium soft hay and it was very hard , stiff hay with a lot of sticks and when you get to the middle of the bag.. it is full of powder… and the hay has turned to powder because it is so hard and stiff… if it was soft hay, as it’s described in its ad when you go to purchase it…. It would never turn to a powder…. don’t buy it … it’s a waste of money… I honestly don’t know what happened to this rabbit hole hay company… I have been buying their hay for years … but their quality control is non existent now and has been for the past 10-12 months… every bag of their hay that you buy is a crap shoot… you never know what you’re going to get… some bags I have purchased have actually been completely full of sticks , and their packaging states that their hay is “hand packed “… it sure makes you wonder how some of this garbage hay gets hand packed by a caring person ?

Our buns absolutely love Rabbit Hole hay - they won't eat anything else!
The media could not be loaded. We switched to rabbit hole hay a year or two ago, and there is no going back. Our buns love the soft and medium timothy hay cuts, and this 2023 season cut is a real hit. The quality is always great and whenever I've had reason to contact the customer service team they've responded quickly and addressed my concerns. Love love love!

Definitely not the hay it once was
Genuinely don't know what's going on here. This hay used to be premium, hardly any trash and fresh and green. Then the quality started to decline more and more. This past fall (late 2024), I was told by the company that they had a new, great batch. I gave them a try and it was okay. Not what it once was but okay. It has once again slowly declined again.Every bag we get is chock full of sharp sticks, there are no long pieces and lots of red/brown. I'd say at least 1/3 to 1/2 unusable. I keep ordering because I keep thinking, this time it'll be good!....but then it's not. I want to support the company, the staff is great, but it's becoming at my expense. If their hay is truly hand packed, who in the world is packing handfuls of sticks and actually selling it?I wish so badly they had the fresh, soft, green hay they once had where you could grab a handful and fill your little one's bowl and walk away. Instead, I spend countless hours picking through it carefully so my boys aren't cut or poked with a sharp stick. It takes too much time just to get a small bowl of edible hay. I think I have to be done trying to make it work.

Great for Guinea Pigs
Update 1/23- The last two consecutive boxes have been wonderful- it looks like this year's batch is much better than last year'sThe hay quality has been getting worse over the past four months- more dust/waste. It was a decent price on Amazon for 20lbs, but the price has gone up 25 bucks and it's definitely not worth it anymore as a good third has to be thrown away. It's great to start, but you get about 15lbs of usable hay for every 20lb bought.
