I've read several reviews about this filter before buying and it seemed that there were complaints about the strength of coffee and the filter not fitting in certain coffee makers. We have a Kuerig but being there is more than one coffee drinker in the house K-cup were getting expensive (and bad for the environment) so I was glad to find an alternative that was reusable. After daily use for about a month I'm and very happy with it and wanted to tell others in case they had the same worries I did...After reading some of the reviews I was worried that this 4 cup filter wouldn't fit properly in the Black & Deck 5 cup coffee make we bought so I also bought a few paper filters just in case. I'm happy to say that I never even had to open the paper filters! If you put the right amount of coffee in the filter you should have no problems even if it doesn't fit perfectly to the edges.My other worry about the coffee being to weak was just that, a worry. I'm not sure if people are just over thinking it but the coffee is great! Being from Louisiana the one taste of home I get here in TN is my Community Coffee and Chicory. Every morning I take a sip and I'm reminded of home and home taste pretty darn good! If you think the coffee is too weak maybe you should try a different brand *hint, hint*No complaints here! Just good coffee and no waste!

**Update on 12/9/14:Filter still looks brand-new. I pop it in the top rack of the dishwasher a few times a week. No discoloration from either the coffee grounds or the dishwasher, and it still filters like a champ. I buy pre-ground coffee, and also grind myself at the store on the setting for automatic drip coffee makers.Original review on 12/29/13:After almost 2 years of paper filters that cave in, I did some research on permanent filters, and based on the Amazon reviews decided on the Medelco 4-cup filter for my Mr. Coffee Cafe Latte maker. No more grounds-filled lattes! I use organic Sumatran coffee - ground from whole beans at the grocery store on the espresso setting, just a small amount at a time which lasts me a little over a month, & kept in a airtight container in the kitchen cabinet. I use 1 small plastic scoop of grounds + a little more, but you need to test a bit to find your perfect amount. I also tamp down the grounds very lightly with the back of the scoop. The filter is easy to remove since it has a handle, and easy to clean...I use an OXO dish brush filled with detergent, but one would be ok with simply rinsing with warm water. I want to keep the mesh as nice as possible, so I probably will not put the filter in the dishwasher. I am glad I don't have to worry about grounds getting into my beverages with this excellent filter.

I love strong coffee which is why I love this basket. This will seem in complete disagreement with many reviews here claiming that because it's got a mesh bottom water goes through too quickly. And I probably use less coffee than most when brewing a pot. The problem is a mesh bottom basket like this is not meant for pre-grinded drip store bought coffee, in my opinion. I grind my own coffee which results in grounds that are far far finer than store drip grinds. This means a huge amount of extra surface area during brewing. The water picks up the flavor quickly but the fine grinds can block other filters and cause a mess so a mesh bottomed filter is what is needed in this case, Store bought drip is more course and needs to soak in the water awhile to get stronger flavor from it so a solid bottom basket is better because it slows the drip. I've always been plagued with overflowing coffee makers but never with mesh-bottomed baskets like this. So I get a really strong great tasting coffee using a coffee bean and roast of my choice without an overflowing mess. And this basket, by the way, is high quality and well-made. Great for the price.

The product is what I expected. What didn’t like is the first time I ordered it, the delivery was delayed, I kept getting updates it’s one it’s way, it never came. I had to cancel the reorder and that one came within a couple of days .

Perfect fit for my 4 cup Sunbeam coffee maker.

This filter works well, although the fits all claim was not as I expected. It comes in a circular shape, and I have had to squish it into an oval to make it fit my machine. Although I am very thankful it works, as the original filter fell apart recently.

Okay product. Handle to lift the container out of the coffee maker did not last long. Makes it difficult to get the basket out for cleaning

Great for reducing environmental impact. I use this instead of buying paper filters. Also doesn’t collapse like paper ones can if not separated properly.
