TL;DR - It works as advertised.The longer review.So the back story. At my church the drums are on a 9x10 riser about 18 inches off the stage floor. For years we have used a desk top mic stand, like everybody else and it seemed to work fine. The problem is that when some one would walk across the drum riser or tap their foot on the riser it would translate in to the mic. We tried to adjust gates to fix the issue, but if we set the gate to high, when the drummer played softer for more dynamic parts it would not open the gate. So we would have to set the gate lower which gave us problems, but we just dealt with it.About 2 months ago we purchased 2 x JBL SRX282SP subs they replaced our old subs which were... well lame. Fantastic right?!?!?! Yes!!! Except it also amplified the existing problem we had, and created a new one. Now if we left the kick mic on for a short period of time it would slowly start to feedback through the subs, and they would start to swell. So this means we have to keep the subs just under the threshold of feed back, which is still better then our old subs, but not what we knew they could produce.Enter the KickStand. The mic stand arrived and seemed to be great quality, much bigger and heavier then I thought it would be. I was skeptical, but optimistic. We installed the new stand and, wow it actually works. We are now able to push our subs higher. We can leave the kick mic on with no feedback issues even at a higher db level. And it actually cleaned up(sounds tighter) the sound of the kick drum, we had to re EQ the kick because we were originally EQ-ing with the riser vibration as port of the sound. We had to gain the kick up some. And It took away the walking across the riser noise and the foot tapping noise. If you stomp on the riser it will still translates through the mic, but that will also shake the whole drum kit. This works as advertised and I am happy we bought it.My ONLY complaint is that it is a base stand only(no boom).
