Will this weigh a med that is 1mg? I am using it for tapering my med in 0.5 mg increments starting at 7.5 mg's

Nope. They do say it can measure as little as 1 milligram, but its accuracy is + or - 5 milligrams. I've noticed that with really light things it jumps back and forth between 0 and 5 mg There is no $20 scale that can do what you want. Most really expensive lab scales cant do 0.5 mg.

Does the cover come completely off so that you can weight envelopes for mailing?

I’m not sure. It appears that it can. However it’s a nice snug fit and I don’t want to try and remove the top for fear of breaking the small swivel tabs.

/oz/ozt/ml/lb/dwt/ct/gn/tl where is milligram? was ml a typo? was it supposed to be mg?

When you have it on g, mg is the .000 part. The .602 is the mg 1 is the gram

What are dimensions of this scale? One descrtption says 2" x 3.45" another 2.5" x 4.5". What is the true?

I don’t have the scale with me to measure it, but I would venture a guess that 2.5” x 4.5” is more correct. In either case, I can say that it is very portable and accurate. Very pleased with it.
