Healthy food
My dog seemed to enjoy the food. However, it comes in way too big of bags and is very expensive.

Best limited dry dog food for allergies
Let me just start and say my baby is allergic to everything! So we were ecstatic when we found Earthborn bison without any hint of it in it. He absolutely loves it. If you're a parent of a suffering baby like ours was , you will go through hoops to do anything to help them. We have gone through every dog food out there looking for with out the ingredients we need. It has been a long ,long journey. We noticed when he was about 1yrs he was itching and scratching all the time. Through an elimination diet and trial and error ( there wasn't a vet who believe in limiting diet yet, this was 10 years ago.) We tried changing foods with this and not that. We thought we found a good one, as time went on we started noticing after he would eat he would itch, something fierce. He was allergic to the most common ingredients that even the specialty dog food would use. At that time there wasnt a food manufacture that didn't use it. So the decision was made to go raw. I had to do my own because even RAW used flaxseed in theirs. I feed Oreo, he is a havenanse raw (with chicken and beef as its protein sources for the past 10 years!!!) Then I started really watching and he still was having horrible ear infections and scratching. I had read that smaller dogs were having problems with chicken! Yep, as soon as I stopped feeding him chicken, the problem stopped.Well now I searched and finally came to find Earthborn bison limited ingredients. It had only 7 ingredients none of which he is allergic. He loves it. All is well and I don't have to go finding it in the store almost impossible!! Amazon has it shipped to me every other month. No more frustrated owner and a happy, healthy doggie.I highly recommend Earthborn limited ingredients dry dog food. Also, get it auto shipped, no worries.

FDA Investigation into Potential Link between Certain Diets and Canine Dilated Cardiomyopathy
Since this product was included on the FDA's list, i wanted to post the reply i got from the company, since i wrote them with my concerns.... hopefully this is helpful to potential customers:Hello,We have reviewed the FDA’s recent report regarding grain-free pet foods and a potential link to DCM (dilated cardiomyopathy). This report does not provide any scientific findings linking nutrition and DCM. Rather, FDA is simply attempting to gain more information as part of its evaluation process.Congenital heart disease has been recognized in 0.56% to 0.85% of dogs for many years (Detweiler and Patterson, 1965). The report only touches upon the genetic or congenital prevalence of the disease, hinting that the disease may have a nutritional component without suggesting a nutritional solution. It has been recognized that taurine, an amino acid, may be helpful for dogs with full onset of DCM. Since their introduction, we’ve fortified our grain-free recipes with taurine, amino acids and L-Carnitine as prudent nutritional considerations.Midwestern Pet Foods’ utmost priority is to provide safe, high quality nutrition. Our recipes are created by a board certified pet nutritionist (PhD), use only FDA permitted ingredients and make nutritional claims permissible by the FDA. Additionally, our recipes closely follow FDA sanctioned nutrient profiles published by AAFCO (American Association of Feed Control Officials). We take the nutrition and health of pets very seriously. We will continue to do everything possible to ensure that our products are safe and nutritious.Shawn H.Customer ServiceMidwestern Pet FoodsShawn H.Consumer Affairs Coordinator

Great in the past, but some quality issues now....
Summary:I hae a service dog who has a strict diet. Several years ago I started to given him this brand an he had good health and fur. The last couple batches I purchased seem to have quality control issues. At times the dog would not eat it and didn't seem to enjoy jt when he did. I'm not sure if its the ingredients or whether its transport/storage issues during manufacture...it's very difficult to determine. I do have a similar experience with other users of the dog having diarrhea when using this product, but only when I reintroduce him to this food, after a week his body reaches equilibrium.Pros:1) Overall, the product did help my dog with allergy relief and made his fur better.2) Seems like an well made lrodut in general.Cons:1) Recent quality control issues.2) The new velcro bags don't seal well.3) The old ziploc bags were better but the zipper was fragile for the size/weight of the bag.

My two large dogs love this food after trying tons of other brands
Last May my two big dogs, who are not picky eaters in the slightest and always ate their whole bowl of food immediately, stopped eating. We had been feeding them Taste of the Wild for about a year and all of a sudden they wouldn't eat it. I spent the last year cycling through dog food brands (Victor, Blue Buffalo, ect) trying to find anything they would eat. I would switch their food, they would slowly eat it for the first couple days and then usually there would be vomiting and/or diarrhea, they would then stop eating it or barely eat. Finally I decided I was done buying brands on the recommendation of friends/family/vets and spent a few days online researching hoping I could find something permanent.First bowl of this food my dogs ate in minutes, my pitbull hasn't eaten a whole bowl of food in one sitting since we first started having issues and I was excited. It has now been a couple weeks and they have gone from slow feed eating throughout the day to barking at me as soon as 6pm rolls ready for dinner. I know all dogs will have different reactions to different foods but after trying a ton of highly rated brands I really do believe this is one of the best affordable dog foods out there.
