Popcorn That Packs a Potent One-Two Punch!
Spontaneous Combustion Popcorn by Southwest Specialty Food Co. of Arizona is the happiest of chilehead marriages, that of searing heat and delicious, complex flavor. Some hot snacks are one or the other, which leaves the consumer feeling short changed; that is not the case with this product: Grab a handful of this popcorn right out of the microwave and you WILL feel the heat, followed by a rich, buttery flavor that is difficult to describe. The corn pops up beautifully, with very few spinsters in the bottom of the bowl. Yes, it is an expensive product, but I do not know of any other spicy popcorn that is on a par with it. Caution should be taken when opening the microwave door, as this product produces a very pungent vapor that can get in your eyes and nose. It will be interesting to see whether Ass Kickin' will come out with a Scorpion pepper popcorn or even a Carolina Reaper version; let us hope that it will. In the meantime, as far as stinging hot but also flavorful microwave popcorn goes, Spontaneous Combustion is top of the line.

Tastes great, very hot and spicy
Great specialty popcorn with a few caveats. This will appeal to those persons who enjoy spicy foods with a lot of heat. I like the taste of ghost pepper and have this and several other similar products. Super hot pepper flavors have a tendency to burn people up, and overpower the actual taste. For those who eat a lot of spicy and very hot peppers and peppery foods and are tolerant to the heat, this popcorn tastes really good. It is quick and easy to make. The caveats:- The popping popcorn tends to aerosolize a little of the pepper. Breathing the fumes near the microwave may make you cough and irritate your throat when you first take it out. Letting it sit in the microwave and cool for 3 or 4 minutes before opening the microwave helps. Do not breathe the fumes from the bag.- Don’t give this to people who are not tolerant to very hot peppers. They won’t like you and you will waste good popcorn.- After eating this popcorn, wash your hands well with cool soapy water. Don’t touch sensitive surfaces with your fingers, like for example, rubbing your eyes is a bad idea if you still have some of the residue from this popcorn spice on your fingers. That’s it! If you like very hot spicy foods, then this is for you.

Its OK if you want hot that's not too hot
Being as short as possible, a few comments on others reviews and my feedback..When being cooked, it did have some smell but not that bad. In fact, making it at work caused others to come try itThe popcorn is very tasty but not overly hot. I finished a hole bag in one sitting without water.Heat would be 5.5 out of 10.. I would compare it to a jalapeno pepper at bestTaste - 9 out of 10 (I would have gone 10 but I found it hard to cook the entire bag without some burning thus the flavor was affected)Package was fairly beaten up and the hot sauce in the package started to weep thru the popcorn bag.I would but again for a more realistically priced. All that tried it loved it (none of them found it too hot)

Hot but!
Purchased for my son who loves hot and spicy foods. His review as follows: Advertising and packaging is accurate- it is indeed very very hot! So hot, you’ll burn yourself a new “one” 🙊...but still want to eat every bag. On the bright side, no stomach pain from the scorching inferno that passed through my intestines. Quality popcorn- no cheap, stale stuff, that leaves you with a bowl of kernels.

Read The WARNING
Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to try this but I did hear great reviews regarding the flavor & spice level. Before popping I happened to take a look at the label since I’m pregnant & was curious if it said anything in terms of cautions. Sure enough it did but not they type of warning I was expecting.“WARNING: Consuming this product can expose you to the chemical Acrylamide, that is created when the popcorn is popped and is known to the State of California to cause cancer andbirth defects or other reproductive harm.”Might not be a huge deal to some but for those who are mindful of what they consume it’s important to know.I checked the box of Pop Secret I have & it did not mention this. Turns out commercial brands removed this chemical from the bags but not all companies have. Really disappointed I have to return this, I LOVE super spicy food & was excited to try this popcorn. Hopefully the company can change their bags so everyone can enjoy this.

Definitely Spicy
I purchased this after some of my favorite YouTubers received it from a viewer and made a video about it - she claimed it was the most delicious popcorn she's ever had. Bear in mind that I'm not a microwave popcorn fan; it always smells better than it tastes. This popcorn is no different - it tastes exactly like your garden variety microwave popcorn except the spices added to the oil in the bag are kicked up quite a bit. I'm not very sensitive to spice and would say my tolerance is on the upper end of average. This popcorn isn't completely unbearable but it definitely amplifies the more you eat, as with with most spicy foods. I didn't find the texture or butter flavor at all different from regular popcorn and, again, the only difference is the added spices. Most of the spices/oil stuck to the inside of the bag after I'd dumped the popcorn out (typical w/microwave popcorn), so I had to get a spoon and scrape down the inside of the bag and distribute the scrapings into the popcorn to get the full effect. This is a good novelty item/gift to try, but I wouldn't buy it again just for casual eating.

Dangerous
Not for human consumption. The smoke it puts off during microwaving is like tear gas, burning your lungs.I kept it in the cabinet too long, or I would have returned it.I like hot food, I can calmly eat a raw jalapeno, no worries. This is just too hot for me to eat or breathe.
