For Jeep JL Gas Cap Cover Locking Fuel Door Cover for 2018-2024 Jeep Wrangler JL Sport Rubicon Sahara Willys & Unlimited 2-Door 4-Door

The fuel door assembly is sturdy and fits better than the non-door factory assembly. It really adds to the look of the vehicle and since my Wrangler is black blends in perfectly with the reaining black trim. The locking feature is a bonus to deter any potential foul play with accessing the gas while parked or the car left unattended. Overall well made and a great value. The installation directions and photos were a great visual aid to complete the install in 15 mins. I would recommend this item to all Jeep Wrangler owners that want add that one finishing touch that makes so much difference both aesthetically and functionally!

This looks like the cover from the factory - the lid is metal like the factory version. It is spring loaded so it doesn't need to be locked to close which is nice. But when you are in a sketchy place you can easily lock it. You are not just installing a cover - its the whole fuel neck housing. One installation tip - it comes with a rubber gasket and the instructions don't say which direction to install that. Install it with the flare facing out - look at the factory one to see. I had it backwards first time and had to take the whole thing out and start over. You have to pull the taillight to install it but don't be scared off by that - its easy and the instructions are clear how to do it. They say to use your fingers to push the clips holding in the old housing which did not work, I used a screwdriver (this is on the inside) to get one, a plastic trim removal tool to push clip number two from the outside and once those two are loose you can get it out - the last "clip" is unreachable. Great product at a great price! Installed on 2020 JLU Sahara.

It was easy to install, the door is nice aluminum an d is sturdy. It worked well for a few gas’s refills .However, on the third refill the whole body came out when opening the door! I tried to push it back in place but the tabs that hold the body in place were broken. I don’t know if somebody forced the door open and broke the tabs or if they were just weak and broke when I installed it. I got the door body to snap in place but due to the broken tab it is loose and can be easily removed. It is not very secure in any case!

I got this for my 2018 Jeep Wrangler Sahara JL and I installed myself. It took me about 30 minutes and I did not rush because I wanted it done correctly and neatly without scratching my paint. I followed the instructions exactly and it was pretty easy other than the step where you have to press on the clips to release the original gasket. There no room to slide your hand in so I had to use a long metal rod to act as my right hand to press the clips while my left hand gently pulled the gasket out of its place. The other small challenge was unclipping the wires. As the instructions mentioned they were tight but, I did manage to disconnect the taillight wiring after a few tries. Other than that I got the new one installed and it looks great. It’s very good quality just like the original manufacturers but, only difference is it locks. I feel more secure now that I have a lockable gas gasket.

Very easy to install and looks great!! Gives added protection to prevent damage to your Jeep. I think it took maybe 15 minutes to take the old out and put the new one in. If there is a gap anywhere one of the clips may have not been pushed in far enough to lock. I saved the one closest to the taillight opening to push into place last that way I could push from the inside and outside at the same time.

The gas cap cover looked nice. Door seems heavy enough. The lock is ok. I realize that this door is only a deterrent. It didn't fit as well as I would have liked. There is a thin plastic ring that fits on the back side of the cover which the original one does not have. It's a little wavy and one of the locking tabs won't fully seat like the rest. Should be OK, only time will tell.

I bought this for my 2018 JL unlimited and it's exactly what I was looking for. Fitment was perfect and instructions were nearly identical to actual experience. I've purchased locking gas caps for my trucks in previous years and that commitment requires the use of a key every time you want to remove the cap. What's nice about moving the lock to the door is that I can choose when to lock/unlock the gas fill door. For instances where I'm driving around and not leaving the jeep unattended I can leave it unlocked for convenience, and alternatively lock it when parking overnight somewhere away from home where the jeep is exposed. Granted, a locking gas fill door is probably easier to compromise for the committed individual that is determined to access your tank, but I'm hopeful that the locking gas door will at least be a deterrent for some folks.
