More classic early Mac!
This is another of those albums I ordered not without some trepidation, bearing in mind how many dodgy "live" releases there have been over the last year or so. However, this is definitely not one of the dodgy ones, but a great companion to the officially released Mac BBC Sessions double cd that came out in 1995.Checking through the tracks, although there are different versions of some of the songs on Transmissions, I could only find 8 that were exactly the same.Quality is generally very good, although it varies a little on cd 2, which I suspect is partly made up of tracks recorded from the original radio broadcasts - I remember doing that myself, as a teenager with my old Akai reel to reel! However, don't let that put you off, as everything on here is of good or pretty good quality - indeed, cd 1, I would guess, comprises of tracks taken straight from the original BBC tapes.Musically, there is some great stuff here, but also a few iffy Jeremy Spencer rock & roll pastiches, some Elmore James covers, and a couple of slightly weird psychedelic numbers. Mind you, there are 43 tracks, so a few dodgy ones is no problem. There is plenty to enjoy of this classic Mac line-up, and if you love the playing of Peter Green and Danny Kirwan as much as I do, then this is a must-have album! It was great to hear Greeny on such classics as How Blue Can You Get, Buzz Me and the slow minor key blues I Have To Laugh, and to hear Kirwan on Talk With You (a version of which was on Blues Jam At Chess), Crazy For My Baby (released on Then Play On as Without You), and Mind Of My Own is equally exciting for an old blueser like me! Indeed, I remember playing the latter in one of my first bands, in the early 70s - needless to say, not quite up to the standard here! All in all, for anyone interested in the early years of "Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac" I would say this is an album to get without delay!

Great set of songs from Fleetwood Mac
Excellent cd from the masters of the blues great recordings apart from a couple that are not so good but still worth having. If your a Peter Greens Fleetwood Mac lover just buy this and add this to your collection you won't regret it.

Jump the awful Jeremy Spencer rock and roll Tracks.
Album would have been better without the awful Jeremy Spencer rock and roll tracks..But there are plenty of good vintage Fleetwood Mac blues to listen to.
