No cleaning. I have to do both to my machine. **Q: Are these necessary if I have a water softener? My water is not hard at all, but the machine is telling me to decalcify.** A: Normally, a functioning water softener eliminates the need to decalcify. If you have a Jura Capresso machine you have to tell the machine how hard your water is and then it figures out when to decalcify. The machine does not know how hard your water is; you have to tell it. Detailed instructions are available online for all Jura machines. You can also get a hardness measuring kit from HACH Company and actually measure your water hardness. Then you can set your machine accordingly. This is the safest approach and it is what I do. After almost 10,000 cups made by my Jura Capresso Z9, everything works perfectly. It's good idea to check the functioning of your water softener anyway. If you water hardness is under 4 grains per gallon you can forget decalcification and your softener should easily assure that degree of hardness or less. **Q: Can anyone advise how to use these with a Jura F9?** A: From the manual (available online) Press the P button. ‘Maintenance status’ (‘1/7’) T Press the ‘Descale’ button. ‘Descale’ T Press the ‘Start’ button. T Press the ‘Start’ button again. ‘Empty drip tray’ 40 5 Maintenance T Empty the drip tray and coffee grounds container and put them back into the machine. ‘Agent in tank’ T Remove and empty the water tank. Water flows out of the dual spout. ‘Empty drip tray’ **Q: Will these work for the Jura J6 ?** A: I looked at the instructions online for your J6 with almost identical cleaning and decalcifying instructions. It appears that the J6 is very similar to my C9. I would think it would work. I put the decalcifying tablets in a plastic measuring cup with the ounces of water called for in the instructions and let them dissolve completely prior to adding them to the water reservoir and then run the decalcifying cycle. I also use the Jura cleaning tablets when my machine is due to be cleaned not decalcified. It seems the cleaning tablets would work for your J6 too. I hope this was helpful.
