motion detector very sensitive, maybe too sensitive?
This is a great light and lights up my garage just as well as I had hoped it would. The only problem I've seen, and I think this is a relatively minor issue, is that the motion detection seems to be too sensitive. When I am sitting in an adjacent area, but out of sight of the light and motion detector, the light will switch off, as expected, after a short time. But at seemingly random intervals, the light will come back on. I figure maybe air currents are moving scraps of paper or something. For whatever reason, it just seems to come on very often. On the plus side, it really lights up the room when I am working in there. I used to have to get work lights to shine on my work, and that was inconvenient. Now that need is largely gone. I still need a work lights if I'm working under a car or something like that, but that would be true for any overhead light. Despite these minor concerns about the motion sensor, I wouldn't hesitate to buy this light again.

It does shut off
I started a return fully believing this motion sensor light didn't work correct in my garage and the light was always on.I was wrong. After sitting in cars motionless, freezing in corners of the garage still as can be, the light was always on or just a blink off and then back on. The final test that confirmed this light does shut off was with a video call.I left a phone in the garage outside of the motion detection area and me with my phone in the house. The light shut off in 30 seconds like stated. I walked towards the garage door for a visual, I didn't open the door but it triggered the light to turn on, I saw it with my phone.Weird I I thought, I didn't open the door and the light turned on, stepped away and the light turned off in 30 seconds. I tried this a few times and somehow it detects motion through a door, a solid wood core door.We have a room above the garage and when I walked over the area of the light, the motion or vibration turned the light on again, but off in 30 seconds. The light is very sensitive to motion or vibration, I'm not sure which, but is very bright and a welcome change to a dark garage.

Buyer Beware. Lights don’t always turn off.
The lights are very bright and the units work as advertised. However the lights don't always turn off depending on where you mount them. This is because the motion sensors can see through walls. I suppose they use some sort of radar versus visible light. This means that they will not be suitable for certain scenarios where they could remain on indefinitely. Examples would include:1) a location close to a wall where the adjoining room has a lot of people movement. For example a garage socket close to a kitchen,2) a socket inside your home that is close to a wall with wind-blown bushes on the other side,3) you testing it by hiding behind a wall,4) a roof socket underneath an occupied living space. (If you live on top of your garage)In these scenarios it is best to buy a non-motion activated unit and screw it into a motion sensing / motion activated light socket that doesn’t use radar, but visible light.I bought and returned a number of these and similar units before realizing the issue. I used the unit with a motion activated light socket that I had in storage and they work OK.In this configuration the motion activated sockets need to detect visible motion and turn on, but the lights don’t come on until the radar picks you up, which is almost instantaneous. The LEDs will be active sensing motion through walls, remaining on even after you leave the area and are within range; but because you are no longer visible, the motion activated sockets will eventually turn them off (in my case 10 minutes). Needless to say, if your LEDs are a non-motion detecting version, the lights will stay on constantly for the 10 minute period.Yes, they see though tin-foil, I tried that too.

The motion detection DOES work.
The media could not be loaded. At least for the one I got. At first I thought that it didn't work for two reasons:1. I could always see it activated from underneath the door when I went to check.2. The middle area didn't look like the passive IR motion detection I was expecting, so I thought I was sent the wrong one. (The smooth plastic bulb thing that is usually white or black is how you can identify passive IR motion detection)But what was going on was it was detecting radar motion through the door, and was in fact sensing motion from one (small) room away every time I went to check. I think a lot of people are assuming that their motion sensor doesn't work, when it's actually just so sensitive that it turns on before many are able to witness it turn off. Before you return your motion activated version (like I was about to), try just being really still for 30 seconds at a distance no less than 20 feet. And if it's still too sensitive, perhaps try a few small pieces of foil tape to dampen the signal.

A value. Money well spent.
My coworker ordered one so I waited to see how he liked it. He really liked it so I read the reviews and decided to take a chance. I didn’t pay much attention to the dimensions and thought it was a joke and would have been much larger when I opened the box.I was hesitant to install it and was prepared to be disappointed but only installed it because I didn’t want to take the chance on forgetting to install it and the date to return it might expire.I installed it and “WOW”!!!!! It’s very bright and perfect lighting for my garage that’s also my home gym since my gym has closed with the corona virus shutdown. But it also makes excellent lighting if needed to work on an automobile or lighting upgrade for everyday living.I immediately thanked my coworker for the suggestion.I don’t think you could find a cheaper way to upgrade your lighting.
