Has anyone figured how to change from pulsing light to steady light? Changed it on accident, can't figure how to change it back..

It's not a setting it's a glitch. Only way to set it back is to open and re-close the battery cover. Spoke to the manufacturer about it, and they confirm this is the way to reset it.

how do you place batteries in this wand?

There is a key that comes with the wand that fits into the bottom of the wand. Just unscrew the bottom and the batteries are right in there. I personally leave it unscrewed a little when I'm not using it so the batteries don't wear out.
