Meh!
I first read this book when it was released years ago, and I absolutely loved it then. Cut to the present, I thought I'd treat myself to a little bit of nostalgia and revisit it. What a disaster! I guess it shows how much I've grown up since reading it the first time. I did not like any of the female characters, all selfish, arrogant and demanding women. Even the wimpy, down-trodden Camilla treats a gorgeous Rock Star appallingly - as if!! I could not warm to any of them and to be honest, I did not finish it. I now embarrassed for my younger self, for thinking this was a good read!

1956 or 2006?!
I’m only half way through the book but I honestly can not stand to read anymore ... I honestly thought at one point there had been a mistake and the book was supposed to be set in the 1950s or something ... a massive deal is made about a character being black, about camilla being ‘fat’ and having a baby out of wedlock? It’s ridiculous that even in 2006 these things are an issue when they really aren’t it’s a shame as I love other books by Jill but this was so outdated and jumps months between paragraphs it’s hard to keep up!

3 love stories in 1 book, just loved it.
This book was amazing, loved every chapter. The characters were so interesting and fitted together just brilliantly. Yes Jill's books are a bit more expensive than other authors but you usually get multiple love stories in one book. Just brilliant. 😄

A sorry tale!
This story follows the lives of three friends and their ups and down. Sadly in this book it is mainly downs, with affairs, breakups, miscarriages, cotdeath, accidents and stabbings all part of the story. The story is muddled and ideas introduced but then left to disappear. I normally love Jill Mansell books for their quirky humour and likable characters but this left me depressed and cold. Not a feel good book for a cost read!

Another amazing read!!
Reading this after about 10 years from the 1st time reading it lol. It was like reading a brand new book. Witty, charming and such an easy read I love going back to Jills book for a 2nd or 3rd read. One of my favourite authors. Bring on January for the next in my collection.

Worst of her books
Definitely her worst book. Camilla abandoning her children is not realistic at all, given her personality type. Learning disabled children (not 'handicapped', that really dates it), are not available to be borrowed from residential facilities like library books, without thorough background checks. And the idea that a parent of a brain damaged baby would be relieved that their child would succumb to SIDS, justifying it as sparing future difficulties, like a mother cat eating a runt kitten, is insulting to say the least. And, yes I am a parent of a special needs child. Not impressed.
