Bung Cap 2"Buttress (Coarse Thread) with Gasket for 55 Gallon Plastic Drums -2pc MADE IN USA

I bought this cap to help my parents save emergency water in one of their drums outside. They have older drums and some of their caps were no where to be seen. After reading good reviews, this is the first one that I have tried and it works and seals the drum well. I would recommend this product if you are looking for a cap to seal a drum that you have. The pictures show one of the old caps and the newer cap in place in the drum.

This works well with the wrench that has angles, which is what I needed. It fits nice and tight with a good seal.

Have to buy both fine thread and corse thread but very reasonably priced

bungs fit well in the 55 gallon barrel and have threaded 3/4 inch center for piping. Good for water catchment system

These caps have become difficult to find locally, and some others I bought on line were of poor quality and not as described. Quick shipping.

Wow! These are the best! Can't imagine a better bung cap. Can't go wrong, fits tight, no b leaking.

In broad overview, I did make this work. However, the problem was the "knock out" for the ¾ inch pipe thread. It doesn't knock out - at least not without destroying the product. I had to drill it out - using a metal ¾ inch "nipple" to protect the plastic threads while I used a ¾ inch spade drill bit to drill out the "knock out". Also, the ¾ inch pipe threads are very soft and easily destroyed (which is why I protected them with a metal nipple to do the drilling). It is easy to strip out these threads. I ruined two bungs until I found this technique for getting the "knock outs" out.So, the theory of these bungs is good. The execution is not good. If I were going to buy more I would look for some other product made with more durable plastic, and true "knock out" for the pipe fitting.Addendum: they leak. At least in the drums I have, the gasket used on these bungs leak. The gasket is thin and sits up inside of the flange for the bung (other products use a better silicone ring that is thicker and butts up against the flange). In my experience these bungs leaked when used in a configuration where the barrels (used as rain barrels) were laid on their side. I intentionally laid the barrels on their side, rather than upright, to keep the pressure in the outflow pipes low.Anyway, these bungs are cheap and if you don't need much they might work for you. For me they have not worked.
