Chopping experience is much better with this contraption. My 80 yr. Old hands can’t cut veggies well anymore. I like that it had a chopping blade and another for blending.

I highly recommend this product as superior for chopping vegetables and herbs, more effective than even an array of electrical appliances. It’s quick, easy, and safe. As the manufacturer claims, it chops food in record time, with very few depressions of its hand pump. Here’s where precision shines, as it will chop it all the way down to a purée consistency, so you need to monitor the results of each chop. And clean up is a breeze, because you don’t have all the various components of its electrical counterparts and they are durable lightweight plastic, exactly four pieces that stows compactly and easily rinses clean with warm soapy water. I don’t even remember how much it costs, but you couldn’t take mine away from me at any price.

First of all, this review is being written after a few uses of the chopper, rather than exhaustive use over many months. In general, I like it, and will continue to use it. It does certain things very well, and has some nice features, but it's not a replacement for cutting things up with a knife when precision control of the size of the resulting pieces is desired. I chopped onions, carrots, and celery with it. For onions, it makes very nice finely chopped onion bits, but it's not easy to make uniformly-sized pieces that are larger. For carrots and celery, it seemed easier to stop at the right time to have larger pieces. The design is like a tiny food processor with wing blades installed. The chopper makes very quick work of what you put into it, needing only a few quick pushes of the plunger to chop everything. It has some nice features, like the non-skid bottom on the base and the button that locks the plunger in the down position to make it smaller for storage. The design makes it pretty easy to clean, though you're not supposed to immerse the top portion that contains the plunger mechanism. Pros: - Easy to use - Chops very quickly and easily - Non-skid base provides good stability - Easy to clean Cons: - Difficult to achieve a uniform size of the chopped veggies, if not going for a fine chop.

I had a Brieftons Food Chopper in the past that I loved & it finally wore out/broke after several years (it was the pull cord type & smaller than this one). So I knew them to be good products at a reasonable price. I bought the larger one & love it! Of course there is an "art" to knowing what might get stuck on the blades & how to size (celery for instance) the pieces before you throw them in for dicing/chopping etc. Also you learn how many push-downs you need to use depending upon what you're making. For instance if you're shredding/chopping cabbage. I usually check after 3-4 at the most push downs & check the food, and sometimes will pick up the container & shake it around a bit to get to the pieces it may not be hitting, but the rest is already shredded. This sounds crazy, but really it's not; it is the kind of gadget though that you just have to find your groove with depending on what you're making. I love it and honestly couldn't be without it! I use it to quickly make chicken/tuna salad, or finely chopped coleslaw (hot dogs-yum), salsa or chopping onions, celery, peppers, carrots, cilantro etc. for recipes. BIG TIP HOWEVER: Don't use it for evenly chopped (like cubed) tomatoes - It's fine if you're making salsa, but when I'm making pico de gallo and want my tomatoes to have a 'true' chopped tomato effect the chopper doesn't work well for this, tomatoes are not firm enough for the best outcome. Again something you get the knack of over time... what works & what doesn't. I highly recommend however, it will save you lots of prep time. PLUS super easy to clean, & BE CAREFUL, blades are super sharp. I find clean up a breeze if I rinse immediately upon using. I've never put it in the dishwasher after reading other reviews. Buy it-Try it!

This is a great food chopper. I had my reservations at first, but I was pleasantly surprised at how well it chops. There may be an occasional larger piece of food that you can pick out from the whole container, but it’s still wonderful. I used it to chop a massive red onion, using smaller portions as directed on the chopper package. I think I overfilled it because it was a little tough to get the blade to move at first. Next time I’ll decrease the amount I put in it. It chopped as finely as I wanted, pushing the plunger less for larger pieces or more for smaller pieces. It’s super easy to use and clean. The blades are incredibly sharp, so be careful when washing them. I also recommend keeping the cardboard/paper sleeves that come covering the blades so it can be safely stored. It’s not absolutely necessary because they store inside the bowl/container easily without, but I have a poor history in the kitchen around sharp objects so.... Anyway, a great medium size chopper for all your regular chopping needs - if it’s difficult to chop with a knife, it will be difficult to chop with the chopper. Great for making pico de gallo. It’s not meant for purées. It’s perfect for chopping onions and peppers to avoid the stinging or burning though.

I was pleasantly surprised how well this chops! It has a easy push design that makes chopping relatively effortless. I like making big salads with lots of green and chopping the regular way was taking a toll on my back. Now my salads take a fraction of the time! My eyes miss my uniform precise cutting but lt my back sure loves using my Briefton’s Express food chopper! I encourage you to read the care instructions. To clean it, swish it around in warm soapy water right after use. Letting it dry makes it much more difficult to clean. I made the mistake of scrubbing my blade and it slipped and cut my finger. Good news is it didn’t do any lasting damage and still cuts all vegetables well! I have used this only a dozen times so far. However I do believe this has sturdy construction. At first I thought the blades were thin and bendy but this designs allows the blades to flex making them less brittle. I expect this to be a staple in my kitchen and will last. Even if so need another one I would not mind spending my money on this great product. EDITED 4ish years later and I have probably used this only a few dozen times. Yes, it chops things finely. You’ll need to cut large hard vegetables like onions and carrots. Yes, it does it will little effort. No, it isn’t easy to clean. You will still need a knife and cutting board with this product. I took away one star for the 3 large blades. I was a bit of an idiot and cut myself while cleaning it. Probably would not have happend if I had a dishwasher. The second star was taken away for its inability to cut my main ingredients without needing any other tools. It gets 3 stars for being very very effective! I can mince hearty vegetables like potatoes, celery, and garlic simultaneously. I mainly use this when I make my own salad dressing and pasta sauce. I will use it more when I get older and probabaly arthritic. I’m glad I have it! I wouold reccomend this to anyone looking for a non powered way to quickly cut things.

I read all the reviews for similar items and purchased this item. I am so happy that I did, it is perfect. It even chops a few garlic pieces into very small bits...now that is really telling you something! Chops anything you put into it perfectly and cleans in a flash. Thx, I love it.

We were extremely disappointed with this chopper. The Tupperware mini chopper is far and away a better choice. I chose this for more capacity, but the chopping power is nil. If I chop my food any smaller before putting it in, I may as well do it all by hand. It can't handle much! Finally the push handle cracked, and that was on soft zucchini. I am surprised at all the great reviews it got, which led me to purchase it in the first place, but be warned!
