Great gift for food lovers and cooks
Gifted this to my sister's bf, a recent grad, who studied abroad in the middle east and who remembers the food fondly. I wasn't sure if he would be into a cook book, but he loved it! He's already made many of the dishes including a feast for my family which took major cooking marathon. And he's determined to master the perfect pita. It makes me so happy to see someone enjoy tackling new kitchen adventures, and I'm quite happy to gobble up the results! In my quick skim of the book before wrapping it, it seemed colorful and easy to follow with a good variety of dishes.

This cookbook is incredible!
I can't wait to try these recipes! The pictures are stunning! The recipes look so delicious. I'm glad to be adding this cookbook to my Middle Eastern cookbook collection. Moreover, the price is so reasonable compared to other good quality cookbooks I own.

Happy family because of this book.
I’m an American married to an Egyptian. I was struggling to find middle eastern food we both like that I can actually make.... that wasn’t just full of oil or fat. Seriously every recipe I have made has been beyond delicious, and good for my diet too! Very happy husband, very happy cook!

Great collection of recipes from across the Mediterranean region
Very nice addition to my collection of cookbooks. I've tried two recipes - both very good. The first was Iraqi Kitchree - rice/lentils/Indian spices and a fried egg. Very tasty. The second was a grain salad w/ roasted carrots/mint and almonds. Again very tasty, fresh. A lot of the recipes have a long list of ingredients - a lot of spices. Most of the ingredients are readily available. Book has a color photo of all every recipes.

interesting meals; some of the writing needs improvement
All of the meals look interesting. I received this cookbook a few days ago and used two recipes so far. Each of these recipe instructions seem like they need to be improved. The first is on page 90, steps 1-2. Step 1 refers to the action of boiling water (likely cups of water) for the rice, and then step 2 refers to adding "the boiling water." However, the step 2 directions are not referring to the boiling water in step 1, but the 2 teaspoons located in the ingredient list. The second location with a writing problem is on page 174, step 3. It refers to lining a baking sheet, etc., but there is no place in the recipe explaining what to use the baking sheet for after it is prepared.Sep. 13, 2023: There is a third problem also located on page 174. It mentions 2 tablespoons of olive oil and 1 extra tablespoon of olive oil. However, the instructions do not seem to have a clear relationship to these 3 tablespoons. Step 2 mentions 1/2 teaspoon, Step 3 mentions 1/2 teaspoon, Step 5 mentions 1 teaspoon and the extra oil usage.Again, the meals all look interesting. The writing just seems to need improvement.
