I was going camping in Northern California for 30 days, the longest I have done. Ice at the camp ground is about 20 dollars a day and can vary in price. This machine boasts 100 pounds a day and that may be true but proper management plays a role. The first week it was cold and this ice machine was more than enough for two large ice chests. I would harvest before bed and in the morning, everything was golden. I was even filling bags of ice to friends. The hopper fills two 10 pond bags that I purchased form Amazon. ( in my experience bagged ice lasts longer than loose ice but doesn’t cool as fast) I had the unit connected to a garden faucet that was run through an rv filtet. Up against the trailer under the zip dee awening. Giving it protection from direct sunlight. After the first week temperatures rose to 93-106. It was way to hot for me! Spent a lot of time in the air conditioned trailer. The ice make continued to make ice maybe at a slower rate, but still excellent. On the hottest day it threw an error code. I simply rest it and it functioned normally throughout my visit. In the hottest climates it provided enough ice to Keep two ice chests, one large and one medium plus ice for cupped drinks. I estimate that purchasing the ice would have been 600 dollars for my 30 day stay. I paid 439 through Amazon for this ice maker. I have no indication that it won’t make another season..or two. In short, for me this I’ve maker already paid for itself, everything thing from here is pure gravy. ### ⭐ I don’t recommend this unit. *by M***. on August 22, 2022* Bought this unit and paid $140 to have it installed. I had to buy a separate pump for the drain.
