DOKIO 160W 18V Solar Panel Kit Monocrystalline Portable Flexible Folding

I was delighted that this solar panel survived the storms on Friday but also the caravan was on site over the bank holiday weekend where we had no electric hook up. I wired an extra leisure battery in parallel with this panel and fitted a 15amp fuse on the live connection from the panel to the battery and from Thursday night until about 8:00 pm on bank holiday Monday the batteries showed fully charged at the end. Without the solar panel I am sure the batteries would have been flat within a day or so. People charged their phones from the charge controller and power was used for 12volt lights, the electric toilet flush pump, the water pump and for igniting the gas cooker and gas fridge. I did not have time to fit the mains inverter I had bought which would have drawn a lot of current if it was used. In conclusion I would highly recommend this solar panel kit. This was my first time I had gone into solar panel generation and it has given me the confidence to install off grid solar for my home garden workshop where larger 36v solar panels will be used with a much larger charge controller. When folded up the solar panel was small enough to fit flat in the bottom of the caravan wardrobe keeping it safe when towing the caravan.

For the money this is a good solar charging solution. It is very lightweight - I can lift it with a finger and thumb - and came with a controller/regulator and some flexible cable options. It could do with 2 of the connector to bare wire cables instead of 1, in case your use-case isn't to use croc clips to connect to your battery all the time. But, other than that it is well equipped. I have a power station that I could plug the panel straight into and it started charging. When using the panel with the contoller and plugging in my mobile phone and tablet it produced enough power with some clouds in the sky to charge them both up. My only real complaints are that it doesn't have a kickstand so you have to just lay it on the floor (or a big enough table), and there aren't any anchor points except the carry handles to tie it down with. For something most likely to be used for camping, a couple of eyelets to pin it to the ground would've made a big difference.

I am going to give this a full 5 stars. I suggest you read the 1 star ratings about how much power people think these solar panels deliver also. At 2:50pm UK mid July (sun very high) the "160watt" solar panel was outputting (unplugged) 20.1v. When I connect an amphere meter across the output I got 6.9 amp. volts x current = wattage 20.1 x 6.9 = 138 watts This is where I think their 160 watt solar panel description comes from. On another day perhaps that would go a tiny bit higher. The current / amphere meter doesn't lie. Nor does the volt meter. One thing that I don't know is how much the voltage drops under load because I cant measure both at the same time BUT, the voltage will drop - this is important. Connecting the supplied box of tricks to the solar panel shows (see photos) and using its readings (they wont be wrong, perhaps not as accurate as a multimeter but not bad) what it showed was 14 volts and 6.2 amp = 86.8 watts. The problem between the 2 sets of readings is time and the fact tiny little clouds roll by which will have made a difference. The conditions were not perfect today for solar generation but certainly not bad - perhaps it is a 90 to 95% day (more heat would reduce efficiency but today may be a little hazy). All in all the first figure is calculatated wrong as the volts and amps are done separately but explains how they get their 160 watt figure and the 2nd figure I feel was a little down as conditions were slightly different. So lets be sensible and up the measured wattage by 10% to be fair. The solar panel was producing 86 to 95 watts today. Which isnt bad for an inexpensive flexible light weight solar/charger set. I think it could possibly go to 100 watt. Compared to my over twice the price solar panels this is OK if not quite good. My other panels get 90 to 105 watts and they are rated at 120 watt. Ignore the rating, are you happy with 80 to 90+ watts from this solar charger for £86? I am. The next issue is the output voltage to charge a battery. It was 14v and this wont be enough to properly charge a LifePO4 battery. In fact it was only charging my battery at 0.2a...but I wasnt expecting much because the battery is already fully charged. What I need to do is test the charging with a flat battery (I'll update this in a few days - today is 16th July). I want to see a charging voltage of 14.4 to 14.7v and most of that 6 amps, or at least 4 amps charging. This is very promising so far - a good solar panel. Many people complain about scratches and marks over the panels, yes I also have those marks (same as other peoples photos, the exact same scuff marks a year or 2 from when they did!). The marks do not effect the panels enough to worry about.

Was disappointed with this item. It's very big, and cumbersome. Couldn't get any higher than 100w output even aimed directly at 33C sunlight. Folded size is also very large for transporting . Managed to get 160w from a different 200w solar panel, so it's not my device that is limited.

First real test of the panel this weekend and I can only echo the majority of the reviews on here, it really did the job and did it well. We used on our caravan with a 120AH battery and the panel charged the battery each morning by about 10 am, on one night the battery was very low and it had no trouble charging it. Very pleased, threw it on the roof of the caravan and secured it to stop it slipping, no issues at all. Really pleased, now just need to decide if we want a second battery to completely open up the world of off grid sites to us.

This is definitely not a 160w panel. My 120w panel was sitting next to it and was producing more power

J’ai eu peur au début car l’icône « input » de ma eb3a clignoter, mais en fait c’est que j’avais mal orienté le panneau. Donc pas assez de w. Mais après un test plus réfléchi en terme de position, fini les soucis et très bonne charge :) Je recommande pour le prix. Et pour l’envoie bien protéger ✌️✌️

Mir gefällt das panel wirklich gut, aber auch nur wegen dem Preis. Ich habe mir zum Vergleich das Jackery Saga 100 gekauft. Beide sind gleich schwer und groß. Das Jackary ist aufgeklappt halb so groß und ist natürlich besser verarbeitet, solider und schön. Es kostet aber auch 150 Euro mehr. Das Dokio ist nicht so toll verarbeitet, aber es ist echt ok und funktioniert. Die angegeben Leistung ist aber gelogen. Es hat mit den angegebenen 200 Watt exakt die gleiche Ladeleistung wie das Jackery 100. Bei Bewölkten Himmel gehen beide auf eine Ladeleistung von 8 Watt runter. Wasserdicht sind beide. Zumindest waren schon beide bei Regen draußen im Einsatz. Wer wenig Geld hat und es erstmal nur um das zuverlässige Laden geht und mit der billigeren aber oken Verbreitung leben kann, der wird zufrieden sein. Ich bin es. Es ist zusammengeklappt genauso groß wie das Jackary. Mutmaßlich wird das Jackery länger leben, muss aber auch nicht. Vom Preis Leistungspunkt isses klar das Dokio.
