Recommended Buy
The pricing for these boots is usually higher than most would like to purchase for boots, but to get boots that are great, you need to pay a little more. Keep in mind that your feet go through a lot of abuse during the day and you need something to stand up to that. A brief summary of the product that I received: As the description says on the Corcoran site and on most Amazon retailer's posts is that the toe cap and counter (heel area) is made of hard leather which is "spit shine-able." I would like to mention that it's exactly that. The rest of the boot is made of "full-grain leather" which makes it not as easy to shine up, but it will make it last longer and scuffs/scratches don't show up as well. The sole of the boot is made by Vibram, which is what most military branches use for the soles of their issued boots. The Vibram sole should last years, with everyday use, before you have to resole it. The sole typically wears out before the rest of the boot so you should be able to take it to a cobbler (or any major shoe store like Red Wing) and have the sole replaced. This boot fits EXACTLY how it should and you should get your feet measured before ordering what you would like. If you're looking to add an aftermarket insole into the boot (i.e. Dr. Scholls) for extra comfort, I recommend going an extra .5 of a size higher because the Corcoran insole is non-removable in this boot. The insole in the boot is great, but having another insole in there makes it better. I, personally, did not need a break-in period with these moots. The leather is soft, yet durable, so a break-in period (where the boots are really stiff and hurt your feet) did not happen. The tongue is made out of a quality, soft leather that is more full-grain than the rest of the boot so it can take the abuse from the laces when lacing and re-lacing the boot. Make sure to fully lace up the boot before you determine if the boot is too big or too small. Once fully laced, it fits differently (like most boots). These are the best boots that I have ever owned and I have owned these and a pair of the historic brown jump boots and both boots lived up to the hipe that Corcoran has had for decades. Looking for a good boot for security, law enforcement, militia, military or dress that will last for years? I highly recommend this boot. Why spend $60 on a boot and need to have it replaced once a year when you can have a boot for this price and not have to replace it for years (even with everyday use? I've owned plenty of different style boots from many different manufacturers and Corcoran always impresses me and is always on the top of my list of boot manufacturers.

Wow. Love 'em!
Site after site has these rated as 5 stars. After a dogged hunt for made in USA boots that looked good, weren't western style and could stand up to the rigors of motorcycling I arrived at these suckers. And how glad I am for that. This review primarily focuses on these boots' performance as a motorcycle boot. I am confident they stand up well under other conditions too, but you can find many of those reviews elsewhere. These are quality inside and out. The stitching is perfect, no frayed anything anywhere. It's gonna hold together. The leather has enough thickness for some warmth and road protection, and the breathability is great for all conditions except rather wet. I applied some waterproofing agent to mine, and so far so good. Without waterproofing agent expect about 30 minutes of semi-wet riding (read: light drizzle) before your feet start to get damp. What I particularly love about these boots are that the leather is just the right thickness. Not too thin as to be flimsy or weak protection, but not too thick to be stiff and unwieldy. I also really dig the grippy soles, I have never had a motorcycle boot that makes me feel as sure-footed at a stoplight as these. Between those soles and the great ankle fit, you're staying put when you need to. Most excellent. Last but not least, they look damn good. I prefer a more modern flatter toe, but you can't beat the classic paratrooper boot look for just raw badass looks. I get compliments 'em all the time. Goes well under or over pants, depending on the look you're going for. If I wasn't riding with 'em all the time, I'd leave the laces a bit undone over the pants, looks good that way too (think early 90's...). I have a blog focusing on made in USA goods, if that interests you: [...] Thanks for reading!

Corcoran lives up to the expectation
I have worn Corcoran XCS-2525 (steel toe) for the past 7 years. New USCG uniform regulations banned steel tow boots, so I made the switch. I ordered the Corcoran 985 (Field Boot with zipper), and was rather disappointed in the design. The 985s arrived with a broken button, and the zippers on both boots looked terrible when standing/walking. The zipper bulged out and chafed through my sock into my skin. I wasn't to comfortable with the quality of the zipper. The zipper felt like re-enforced plastic. I couldn't imagine it lasting more than a few months. So I contacted Corcoran, and they kindly refunded my money with no issue. I decided to go with the Corcoran 1525 (Field Boot, no zipper). I can't say enough about this boot. It is just as sturdy as my old XCS-2525's, and there wasn't much of a break-in process. After two 12 hour watches, they are comfortable, flexible and look great! They fit a little tighter than my 2525's did, but I imagine they'll stretch out a bit more and I don't anticipate it being an issue. Quality of the boot seems solid. Stitching and leather appear to be good quality. Boot is lighter than I expected, probably because it's not steel toe. No complaints with the weight. Overall, solid product.

Do you want a roundhouse kick to the face from these bad boys? That's what I thought....
I really want to love these boots. These boots want to mold to my feet and make me a smooth and unstoppable machine. But I'm on two strikes out. I guess buying boots online always has the risk you might get a seconds even though it's billed as a normal retail item, so I'm not judging Corcoran yet, but so far what I have seen is that these boots will look and fit differently by the box. I got one pair, 12.5 Wide and the right boot was larger than the left boot. I chalked it up to a random defect that passed inspection (the boots looked great) and ordered a replacement pair. The replacement came in and overall they look different. The leather is not as thick, the toecaps are not as shiny, and the pair looks smaller. More of the sole is shaved off around the sides. You might like having less waffle stomping material. Easier to get your foot in that door. It seems to be whatever mood the guy was in who made this particular pair. So your mileage may vary. The new pair is more svelte. But the leather is not as nice. Also the left toecap is put on slightly off cant which messes up the look and also makes them bite a bit on the big toe knuckle. There's some other gripes too, like shoe glue slop on the bottom of the soles, and worst of all loose threads. I will probably return these too, and just wait to get into a real store where I can see the boots before I buy. Now I will stop being so negative, because these are some kickass boots and I want to love a good pair of my very own. Seems like they would break in to be very comfortable and gnarly. Get a good pair and you are golden. They are real classic combat boots that let your feet move naturally, look good doing it, and you would be well equipped to storm Hamburger Hill and stomp the holy democracy out of some neo-socio-fascist indigenous commie babies in these burnished implements of empire. Get some.

Veteran review of great boots
Just wanted to write something about these great boots. I'm a veteran and wore these exact boots for over five years while on active duty in the states and overseas. I served 94-99, Fort Hood, TX (11M) 1st Cavalry Division and at Camp Casey Korea, South Korea -2nd Infantry Division. For those that do not know what my job was by my military description, I was in a Mechanized Infantry unit. From the clay mud in Fort Hood to the mountain hills of South Korea, these boots my friends are the real deal. I especially like the field boot model, because you have traction unlike the "garrison" type boots that are more for parade. Even after being drug through the elements, take them home and let them dry, slap some Kiwi on them and then spit shine the heals and toe of the boot and you are good to go for a day in "garrison". I haven't worn these boots for over ten years. I've recently changed carriers and now I'm wearing them again. These have to be the most comfortable boots I've worn right out of the box. I enjoy the DRYZ and Cambrelle foot technology that keep my feet happy (super important to an Infantry man). These boots are not for extreme cold climates, they breath well and when appropriately spit shined by a person who has had many years of experience, you will stand out and look sharp! Great boots, made in America and I can't wait to order another pair when I have enough money. These boots in my opinion are worth every dollar I spent on them. "Follow Me"! Finalout99

Can't go Wrong with Cocoran
I love these boots, but I recommend getting quick tie laces. The laces that come with the boots wear out way too quickly and are too slow for me. Quick laces should come stock with these boots instead of the crappy ones. If you like the old fashion spit shine look, these are definitely the boots to get. They'll treat you as good as you treat them. My last pair of these boots lasted over 10 years before they started to pull apart at the sole. I still plan to keep the old pair and get them resoled when I need them. The new pair is slightly different in design than the old pair (bought in 2003). The main difference is that the lace flap is now made up of multiple pieces of leather stitched together instead of just one solid piece. Still good quality, though. I've had the new pair for a few weeks now and they are already feeling great. The break in period is a lot less than other designs because of the soft leather around the ankles.

Review
Great boots. Had to exchange sizes once, I normally wear a size 11 Nike shoe, and had to buy a size 10. My foot is wider than normal and the toe box fit perfectly. First time wearing these, I soaked them in warm water for an hour then went on a 12 mile hike up and down a mountain. I got small blisters on the top of my foot where the arch meets the laces. Other than that they were comfortable. Now after about 250 miles the fit like leather socks and are one of the must comfortable boots Iโve every had. No signs of wear and tear other than the dirt.

Everything I had hoped they would be!
I have been wanting these boots for a few years now but was never sure on size as they arent easily found in Australia for me to try for size... Alas Amazon had a review saying they wear a mens size 11 nike and the size 10 boot fit perfect... exactly the answer I was looking for. They fit perfectly, although a little tight across the foot where the steel toe sits... this will stretch once broken in. The quality is amazing and the smell is euphoric. I love American made boots and I am thrilled to finally have a pair in my collection. Very happy.
